Update Sync 2 & Enable Navigation on Sync 2 🧭

This worked flawlessly on my 2015 F150 Lariat without Navigation. Downloaded the sync update, navipatch and followed step by step. The only thing that wasn't mentioned was the need for an extended license in ForScan. I needed that to change the code in my F150. Thankfully forscan has a free trial for an extended license. Getting the code took about an hour. Then once I had that, rewrote the code, reset sync and it was simple. Plugged the SD card and within minutes had navigation! Great video!

Soooooo I just found some videos on how to upgrade from Sync 2 to 3, and ended up buying a Sync 3 system a few days ago. It is coming from Hong Kong, wish I would have found your site sooner, as it would probably be here quicker since I am in So Cal right now. It made it to the states within two days of ordering it, but its DHL, I am hoping it will be here by Sunday so I can install it before I go back home. Then I came across your video to add Nav to the Sync 2. So now I purchased an SD Card and waiting for it to come, hopefully tomorrow. So now I am going to add Nav to a system I plan on switching out in a few days lol. I mostly want the Sync 3 for the CarPlay and now thanks to your videos, I am considering jailbreaking it. I followed the instructions on Sync2 in my F150, and all seemed to go well until the end. The display said, "Insert Nav SD Card". I did, but it did not recognize the card ( it did nothing at all). Any suggestions?

Looking forward to trying this. I have a 2013 MKZ and and my FCIM was not working properly. Cooled seats weren't turning on and other random issues. DTC's that wouldn't clear. I ordered another and got it in. Turned on the cooled seats and yay, they're working, no Nav though. From the factory my system had it optioned on. I was shooting there was a way to get this one. Im pumped to give this a shot...

Good afternoon. Attempting the upgrade on my 2014 Lincoln MKX. Everything is self explanatory, however it is not taking the Navi file. It says it is installed, but when you look at the system information it does not have the navigation software listed. Is there something I'm missing?

Is it possible to downgrade my 3.10 so I can use your upgrade file? I already upgraded to 3.10 using ford website before finding this and I found that there were tons more files in the 3.10 upgrade you had on your website than what was on my flash drive (in the subfolder) and I am thinking that is why my navigation isn't working (I get the "Insert SD Nav Card" after following your guide so the FORScan + NaviPatch steps appear to have worked but nothing happens when I insert the card). I am suspicious that I might be missing Nav Apps or something important from your upgrade files but Sync won't let me install the update from your upload because my version is the same or greater than your version and it says I don't need to upgrade.

I updated my sync 2 to the 3.10 yesterday I was told that I have to add nav patch after that separately I put it on the zip drive alone but it won't download to my sync system I'm prepared to order the new maps card and a updated version of sync but I feel like I'm missing a step since nav patch won't upload to my car.

Every time I tried to access Configuration page, I would receive an error with DTC P160A. (Module initialization/relearn vehicle data) message. I would follow the message and it still would not allow me to access and repeated the error message. I then found the suggestion to do it through APIM, and that worked. Thank you for your help as well as the gentlemen that gave this suggestion. Thanks for your video and support. Cheers. PS: Just wanted to add that I get the "insert SD Card" message, but it does not recognize the SD card (A15) just as in your video. I purchased a replacement media hub and still no joy. Any suggestions?

Hey. I just watched your video and I am really looking to try it myself as I have been wanting to have nav on my Sync 2. I have a question though, is the map worldwide because I am from the Philippines and I am not honestly sure whether the maps are worldwide. Another thing is, can I use my SYNC 2 head unit to connect an aftermarket TPMS? The ones with a usb connecter for the head unit. I used to use the ones with their own small screen with a solar panel but the screen didn't last so I'm looking to change them with the ones with usb connector/receiver so I would just use my SYNC 2 screen.

So I am very late to the party on this upgrade. I have done everything to the dotting of the "i" and crossing of the "t" but I can not get it to work. Everything changed over like it is supposed to but nothing happens when I insert the SD card. I also noticed when looking that there doesn't appear to be a version of the NAVAPP on my system. I haven't figured out why it didn't install or how to get it to install. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No, sync 3 needs a different module since modules only have enough storage on them for their version. Non nav has 8gb and nav (non-eu) has 32gb, Euro nav has 64gb

hi Brian, great video,clear instructions, but when i got to inserting the nav sd card, it wouldnt even read it. i downloaded and tried to install the EA5T-14F657-AG.cab files to my sync, but it got 2 seconds in and an error message popped up saying "the installation has run out of space or does bot work with this version" I had already updatd sync 2 to version 3.10. Im so close, need a little help getting over the finish line.

Hi Navi upgrade, thanks for the video. I did the SYNC 1 to 2 update everything was working, but the GPS at the moment enabled and without geolocation, apparently my Ford Focus MK3.5 SE 2015 car does not have Gpsm if a different antenna, if I make the module change is it necessary to adjust any parameters at the APIM level? I understand that Gpsm is also connected to the MS network. Greetings from Chile!!

Hello! I have done everything in order, i had 3,10 on my c-max 2015 already installed, i changed that one number in forscan and then the letters on the top changed to navigation. I have installed the png patch and applyed it, it said navigation on. Then i have reseted sync and after it loaded i put the F10 europe navigation in sd slot. It says insert navigation card and that is it, nothing is loading. Card is not faulty, i have tried to put it in friend's focus 2015 and it is working flawlessly. Do you have any idea what i am doing wrong? I dont understand..thank you

I really don't understand the function of GPSM to be completely honest. Base sync vehicles have GPSM modules, Sync 2. Vehicles have GPSM modules and Sync 3 vehicles have GPSM modules. It's not exactly clear to me what these do. I know that on Sync 2 they provide GPS navigation. I suppose it could be the source for the compass in base Sync and the IPC as well but I've never unplugged one and seen if that is what provides heading information.

@@NaviUpgrade I haven't, either, but I saw a video of someone changing out their entire Sync 2 screen and control module for a salvaged Sync 3 with navigation built in and it came with a GPS puck and a bunch of wire that he put under the front of the dash.. 2015 F150, if I remember right. When he unplugged the original module, it didn't seem to have a GPS antenna connected to it. I asked him and he said his did not come with a GPS antenna, he has to use the one in the kit. He thought that the antenna module on the roof just hold the radio and Sirius antenna, but he hadn't been into that part. It's weird.. he had a high end truck but the GPS shouldn't work without an antenna..

Followed the instructions. When it came time to install the SD card, Sync wouldn't do anything. Verified the SD card worked. Thought something was messed up and I needed to downgrade to 3.08. Tried to run through the 3.10 update again, just in case. Sync said the latest version was installed. So, I reinstalled NaviPatch. But this time after I applied it and unlocked it, I hit Save. I then set the default wallpaper back and saved it before doing the Sync Master reset. Once Sync restarted, I put the SD card in and poof, I had Navigation.

What are the improvements in version 3.10? Nobody seems to mention what they are other than making it so the updated navigation can work. But the Ford navigation in Sync2 is so crappy and hard to set your destination compared to Google maps on the phone, that I can't understand why anyone would even use it.
