Here's how you can enable navigation on your Ford/Lincoln with Sync 2. If you have Sync 2 but don't have navigation you can use this video to enable it. All you need is the Map Card and a $30 OBDII connector.
*** One thing I forgot to mention in the video is you'll need to run the NaviPatch wallpaper on your radio to make things work. Once that's complete you need to do a master reset on Sync 2***

Thanks for the video. I watched a couple of other videos for adding navigation to my 2013 Ford Explorer, but something was missing in those. You were the only one who mentioned the navigation app that had to be installed. In fact, it has to be installed before doing anything else. I know because I tried and didn't get it twice. Then I remembered the navigation app and that you had a link. If not for you, I'd still be sitting in my Explorer scratching my head. Thanks again.

Just got done enabling my Navigation. Hands down the best video I have seen on this process. Very good. Had a little issue with getting Forscan to work but I had to slow down and figure it out. All in all took me maybe 45 minutes to do everything. Give or take. Thanks for the awesome video.

I must say this is an easy install procedure, Followed the instructions and all worked fine. Took about 50 minutes start to finish including a battery monitor reset, (nothing to do with navigation just needed done while Forscan was connected) probably will take longer to learn how to use the thing. Thanks so much DIY REID for taking the time to make the video and allowing us the opportunity for this upgrade. Ford should be embarrassed for the price point at build time!!!! everything is in the thing to make it work except for the map card!!!! Thanks again!!! Chuck

This is excellent - my previously unusable glass panel in the dashboard now has a clock that works, phone connection that works properly now, and navigation that works (I thought navigation was not possible until I watched this video). I've probably also saved at least 3 or 4 hundred dollars by avoiding a dealer (my total costs were about $30 for the OBD connector and $35 for an A10 SD card). And now I can do basic diagnostics if needed, as well. Thank you, DIY Reid!!!!

They wanted $1200 up here in Canada because they insisted the Sync2 needs a "GPS capable APIM" despite me telling them it already had a GPS as I could see it displaying coordinates.

If you are just downloading Nav App 3.10, you are going to want to unzip from the files pop up window on windows. There’s a zipped file about five files deep so unzipping the original download only will not let you upload and give you an error when putting the Ford Maps card in. When you click on the file In the pop-up window there should be a unzip button towards the top of the taskbar. This will unzip all. Hope this helps avoid the frustration I had. All and all, THANK YOU. This works, just Make sure to uncompress your files and that all files were selected

Thank you DIY Reid. I got it working thanks to your earlier help on Sync versions that got me started. Everything worked and the navigation is sweet. II have a 14' Escape and I just ignored the 3.08 Sync and navigation stuff and went right for the 3.10. The A10 maps card worked fine with it. The one misunderstanding out there I think is that we don't just need to set the Navipatch as the background screen, we also need to go to select it and either tap or double tap it, or click on set as background one more time after making the FORscan mod. Then Sync 2 says "Nav Unlocked" and the compass final shrinks and it says insert navigation SD card on the upper right. It is a live and learn experience for us all. What tricked me was I installed the naviogation program 3 or 4 times and it did not show up on my list of installed programs like it did in your video. It must have been in there after the fist install but only showed after I did the Navipatch unlock. Thanks so much. This is so much better than the suction cup special!

@@DIYReid Hi Reid... I tried that yesterday with no success. Considered trying to downgrade to 3.08 as somewhere I read enabling navigation wasn't possible with 3.10. But first tried to re-load the Nav S/W but SYNC kept saying 'already loaded....(woman's voice). Re-read all the comments here and many elsewhere, and loaded BT4T-14D546-EE.CAB, did master reset, then loaded EA5T-D546-AUA.CAB, EA5T-14D546-AV.CAB, & EA5T-14F657-AG.ZIP then another master reset. During this process watched 7 or so files load successfully. Insert map SD message was replaced by navigation, and all is well! Thank you very much for the video and continued support for those of us that need help.

I managed to successfully complete the process and ran across most of the problems listed. Started with the 4.3 version and learned it was actually older than the 3.10. Went to Ford website, registered car and found two versions of 3.10 (with and without NAVI) scratched my head over that one awhile but I suppose either would work. Unzipped file to thumb drive and it loaded as described. Loaded the NAVI app the same way. Had the patch on thumb drive and assumed it loaded but it did not. Time for the FORSCAN process. Gotta sign up and wait for approval to get the two month trial to unlock program. Waited, registered, and changed second digit as described. Still no luck. Decided to start over but it said program already installed when thumb drive installed. Think there was a message about no space or file unreadable. The big secret was the NAVI Patch that had to load as wallpaper, unlock, play around and set as default, and then it finally changed and asked for the maps SD card. Bottom line is that it was not a perfect execution but it did install and work exactly as promised. Thank you!

Success! Since I was already on 3.08 I did not have to update SYNC Step taken: 1. Installed Navigation app via USB stick - The files need to be in the root directory on your USB stick 2. Used Forscan to change bit to enable navigation (follow instruction in video) 3. Unlocked Navipatch.png file - after this the information screen was still enabled in the top right and there was no i in the bottom middle of the screen where the home and settings buttons are and the compass on the display was still big 4. Performed a master reset and that fixed the screen to show navigation in the top right corner with the small compass and the i where the home button is. 5. Inserted maps SD card, in my case it's the A7 map versions. After a minute or so my address showed up in the navigation quadrant of the display. Touched navigation and the map showed up. Took her for a spin around the block and it followed my route perfectly. Got to the end of the street and entered (voice command) my home address and it navigated me to my driveway. One thing that I need to research is on my 2016 Fusion that came equipped with NAV from the factory the right instrument cluster has a navigation menu and when enabled shows the next turn information next to the speedo. Anyone know how to enable this as it's probably not in the APIM module. BTW - I used my OBDII bluetooth adapter without HS/MS can switch and was able to change the proper bit in the APIM module. I'm sure if I do some more mods in the future this may be a problem but for now I'm good to go with my BT adapter. Thanks to everyone that made this possible. My wife is a happy camper. Now she has her dream SUV all except for the sunroof................I do have a saws-all lol.

@@innspiron I used my old Bluetooth adaptor. It's so old it doesn't even have the label on it anymore lol. You have to use a Windows PC. The Forescan Android app cannot make changes.

I've installed the nav 3.08 but after the install it's not there even after master resetting it. I've done like 10x I dont understand what I'm doing wrong. I was able to upgrade to the 3.08 software with no issues just can't get the nav3.08 to install

Followed to a T and it worked. Make sure everything is updated like he says. Then go to ford and get your updates for Snyc and Nav. Then make sure to apply for forscan extended licenses (very important). When you get email add license to forscan through about section and bang it will work.

Worked like a charm. Had to spend 10 for a forscan license because could not get it to work with the free version. You can run the nav patch.png and master reboot before forscan just a FYI.

Ok so step one is upgrade sync if needed, install navigation software, run the Nav wallpaper, then use forscan and change that code and finally do the Master reset?

I went through the process and it worked great, the only difference is that the address is not displayed below the compass. The system has the correct location on the map, I was able to establish home, etc. All appears to be fine, except for missing address. Thanks!

DIY Reid when I drove it, the streets appeared. The next question is how to get navigation to appear on the right hand screen on the instrument cluster. It says compass now. There has to be a way to change that too. 😁

i know its a log shot. I installed the 3.10 version. Then got information in top right corner instead of navigation. was able to add navi patch. still showed information. ran forscan and it already had a 4 in the second slot.. decided to do master reset on ford, now says insert sd card. insert card a8 and a10 both do not read. I am not sure what to do next.

I've updated to 3.10, run the Forscan mod, but haven't been able to get the navigation app to successfully install. I've tried a few times and keep getting to "installation complete" but the navigation app doesn't appear on my app list. I've done a master reset. I looked through the navigation app, it doesn't appear to be VIN specific. This seems to be a hard stop for me completing the update. Any suggestions?

Great information! Upgraded to 3.10 and it even worked with the A4 SD card that came with the truck. Thought I was going to have to buy an A7 or newer but nope! Much thanks!

Hey John , I have a 2013 Taurus limited with 3.08 so I got all the stuff to add navigation but I can’t get the nav app and patch to read . Downloaded files and extracted and sent to usb thumb drive but when inserting into my cars usb drive it comes up with no readable media files found ? Any suggestions? Thanks

@@DIYReid I have the 3.08 nav app on one 32gb thumb drive formatted to fat32 and the nav patch on a different thumb drive formatted to fat 32 and no matter which one i put in either of my cars usb slots it comes up with no media files found ? How should the files be downloaded onto the drives ? i extracted files then sent to usb .

Works great on my Kuga in the Uk. I installed 3.10 from a separate link. Then I used your 3.10 nav app install. Changed the settings in forscan. Ran the NAVipatch from your link and master reset. Bought a F7 sd card from eBay and all works perfectly. Thanks 😊

omar Al hagin yes in that order. The install and patch must be separate. I put the 3.10 upgrade on first. Then formatted the usb stick and did the nav app. Then forscan detail change. Then format usb again and add patch.png and finally master reset. The patch has to be added through wallpaper in display settings. Go into wallpaper and press add. It will add from your usb, then go back and press unlock. It’s wrote in blue on wallpaper screen. Will then say unlocked. Do the reset and it will ask for your map SD card to be inserted.

Did you have software version 4.32? Mine says so and some people are saying that is 3.7 but I don't know to be honest.. I have a 2015 focus titanium

4.32 is actually the oldest and the nav won’t work with that. You need to upgrade to either 3.8 or 3.10. My 2015 Kuga came with 4.32 and I upgraded straight to 3.10

Not working here. Updated to 3.10, did a master reset for posterity, installed Nav App for 3.10, install reported successful, loaded the NaviPatch wallpaper and activated once installed. Purchased FORscan and went through the process of installing. I did note that my MKX for 7D0-01-02 had 8001 4000 029D instead of 0009 0004 9077? I went ahead and tried 8401... and it gave me a check sum error. Nothing came up as far as a small compass. I went into the system to check to see if the system showed the Nav App installed and I couldn't find it. Tried reinstalling the Nav App and it reports successful. Check the system, not there. Tried NaviPatch wallpaper again, nothing. HELP, please.

I followed all the steps. it the i icon,,,,, it asks to add the navi sdcard, but still does not work. Do I need to report the software update in the myfrord website? Also, It will not update the sirius xm (sirius xm system failure) anymore, so that doesn't work. any feedback would be appreciated.

Great video, great information. You left out a couple of steps, but for the most part, your video gave me about 85% of the information I needed to get my navigation working on my Sync 2 system. Had some issues downloading, unzipping and installing navigation software. The link for the 3.10 navigation software downloads software that does not work. Maybe it's an old link. I had to find the correct software in an Ecoboost chat room. Navipatch would have been nice to see on video. ELM device and Forscan worked perfectly. My SD card came in the mail today and everything works perfectly. Thanks! Liked and subscribed!!

@@DIYReid Directly from HERE - the Ford navi provider. My system is sync 3.10 and I used your 3.10 navi download and it appeared to install correctly. I then ran the patch and master reset. It appears navi is installed b/c I have the small compass and can adjust navi settings ... but the insert sd card message remains. When I first did it I even got the popup telling me to insert the card .. I did .. and nothing. Also - on my system screen it does not list navi software.?

I may have been using a ELM327 adapter not recommended by Forscan (I will get a recommended one, but after editing the APIM module and sync restarting, it never switched over to navigation), I did it 3 times, same result. I am sure I did something wrong

@DIY Reid I had just gotten to the part in the video where you changed the apim code and rebooted sync, at that point yours changed from information to navigation. Mine did not. I am getting a forscan approved obd adapter, I was getting an compatibility error message from the one you used and linked to. Forscans site said they are no longer endorsing elm 327 adapters, too many bad ones out there they said. When I get that adapter I will try again

latest update. i got the forscan approved elm adatper, switched the apim code, system rebooted, still comes up "insert nav sd card" instead of "navigation". i then did the wallpaper hack, it showed my navigation unlocked. I inserted a brand new a13 nav card in the slot, waited a bit, nothing. i did a master reset, got back in, inserted the sd card back in, went to the sirius travel link menu, and promptly got told my sd card is bad. this is the 2nd sd card i have bought during this ordeal, i have no idea what i am doing wrong. im tempted to just set sync back to information and forget about having navigation.

You are not unzipping the file and transferring it properly. I would recommend Googling a how to Transfer a zip file to a thumb drive for your appropriate windows version. I used this tutorial for windows ten, kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqOwgptmjdCjrNU Make sure you clear the drive and properly Format the thumb drive first.
