My dad took his own life when i was only 5. My dad was my world, rock and hero. This song always reminds me of much i had wished he had stayed one more day to make him realise he was so loved. When I was younger, this was me and my dad’s favourite song. Round about that time, he was suffering from schizophrenia really bad and went out to cope with the pain. Me, being at oldest 6 years old, missed him immensely during this time as my only hope of seeing him was potentially on the couch on Saturdays. One night, I was in bed crying about how much I missed him when he was out and my mum heard me. She must’ve called him to come over as the next thing I heard was him playing this song over my bed as we cuddled for a bit. I still remember that, even though I’m 12 now and things are much better. He still struggles with schizophrenia, but I see him everyday

I'm 75 and I love East 17. This particular song never fails to bring the tears. I lost my 91 year old mum in 2021 whilst I was seriously ill in hospital with Covid. I missed her funeral and never got to say goodbye. I think of her when I hear this song 😢

listening to this song December 2023 and it reminds me when I lost my daughter in 2018. I lost her due to a bridge incident on February 21st where she had decided to end her life and had chosen to jump of the bridge and an oncoming vehicle had hit her. she had been flown to the hospital and by the time they got there she passed 10 mins later. There was so much going on and I am left in tears every year listening to this song as it brings back so many memories.

This song is my most memorable Christmas song, but sadly for all the wrong reasons. My Dad unexpectedly died in 1994 - the same year that this great song made it to Christmas number 1.
