When I was younger, this was me and my dad’s favourite song. Round about that time, he was suffering from schizophrenia really bad and went out to cope with the pain. Me, being at oldest 6 years old, missed him immensely during this time as my only hope of seeing him was potentially on the couch on Saturdays. One night, I was in bed crying about how much I missed him when he was out and my mum heard me. She must’ve called him to come over as the next thing I heard was him playing this song over my bed as we cuddled for a bit. I still remember that, even though I’m 12 now and things are much better. He still struggles with schizophrenia, but I see him everyday

This song has saved my life on many occasions. From losing my mum when I was a teenager to serving 10+ years in the middle east. Truly an amazing song which is easy to relate too.

I was listening to this, this evening and something told me to read the comments and now I can see why. I’ve been debilitated by grief since my Mum died unexpectedly at age 59 in 2014 and I remember when this was around and we both loved it. Whenever I hear it, I just want to cry because I wish it was that time again and she was still with me because I’m never going to be the same person without her. I remember saying in her eulogy that I fail to see the point of me, without her… and that will always the the case. 💔 my heart goes out to anyone experiencing grief right now.

this song is a masterpiece to me. I remember being slightly annoyed at it as a child, as it was being played so very often. Now I can really appreciate its beauty!

For a 90s boy band, they produced a Masterpiece in vinyl records. Was never a fan of this group,as i am in an older age bracket.but for this particularly song.I WILL BE STAYING ANOTHER DAY.

After reading up the story behind this song it remind me of people and those who are struggling with depression just need to hold on to people who love them like Tony's brother who took his own life, R.I.P to those who cannot be with us now. :(

Great song... When this came out in 1994 I was 14 and my cousin (also my childhood best friend, mentor and big brother figure) had passed away earlier that year from Cystic Fibrosis, heartbreakingly just short of his 18th birthday. Could totally relate to the pain and the themes of loss and grief in the song, as I faced my first Christmas without the biggest, most influential figure from my childhood. Was so glad this held on for the #1 slot at Christmas that year! RIP Simon - 25 years on, and you're never forgotten... Sleep tight, cuz!

Tony Mortimer (the tall one in the group) wrote this, and was very reluctant to have it released as a Christmas song as he wrote it about and for his brother who committed suicide. It really changes the meaning when listening to it with this in mind.

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but if it's dedicated to his brother then why does it talk about kissing?

As sensitive as the issue is and I mean no disrespect, the lyrics do lean towards someone's lover rather than someone's brother.

I remember this being Christmas number 1 when I was 13 and remember just liking the tune and not paying any heed to the words I was actually singing. But my strongest memory of this song is when I was at work in my early 20s. I was randomly asking some coworkers what the saddest song they could think of was. I never forget one of my coworkers told me that this was her saddest song because they played it at her son's funeral. Now all I think of when I hear that song is this and can't imagine the pain she feels every time she hears this.
