Hallo Jim! i really have to thank you. I learned so much from you i dont know how to thanks. Its almost 1,5 years of playing my banjo. Everyday for hours. Its like im addicted. I watched your videos over and over again just to pick that banjo like you can. And now, I got kinda like a band since a fiew weeks. They called me to a jam session at our "kirmes" (volksfest) I played the back up banjo for a few songs. I was so excited.😆 I just wanted to say you thanks. Thanks for all the time you invested, even at the time where your healthy was critical. Someday. I take a very long swim-walk to visit you and get my banjo signed for your name^^ Greetns from ger. Hi Jim! Thank you very much for your very helpful insctructions! I am very happy with your way to teach us the banjo. I have owned my Aria Banjo for 2 years but never really learned to play it. Maybe the only good thing about Corona is that I have the time to look for instruction videos. I started your class about 3 months ago and I can't get enough. Now I've started with East Bound and Down. When I was studying the chorus, especially the "loaded up and truckin'..." section , I assumed there was an "A" chord here in the original. Some "chord" sheets also show an A chord there. Your version appears to be a G chord lick (which in my oppinion also goes with the backing track with A). But then I saw a live video with Jerry Reed and I think the banjo player is also using an A chord. Nevertheless, I like your version and I try to get it into my brain and of course increase my tempo. Greetings from Switzerland

Thanks for your videos Jim. After seeing this and a few other banjo videos pop up in my random YT feed, I just bought a banjo. Tried to learn it almost 40 years ago but was trying to learn guitar at that time too and the two weren't jiving well together in my head, so I sold it. I've come a long way since then and think I could do it now.

Listen again to the original. Opening lick on the recording.. The open G on bar two comes on the & after beat 3. Same on the C chord, and A7 chord. So it’s actually a quick picked 8th note G after the A on 2nd fret. Hopefully this makes sense. From the top.. “ 1 2 3 4 1& 3&. 1 2 3 4 1& 3& Bobby Thompson!!

Hi Jim, I’ve been picking up some great stuff from your teaching on here, much appreciated.Just wondering about your d-tuners on your banjo if you could give me any info on them like how much they cost, are they good comparison to the Keith or Shallor d-tuners, where I can buy at a fair price (I live in uk so duty from America is costly) any advice would be appreciated.Keep up the good work Jim.

Would it be possible to post a video of a slower play-through of the whole piece? Intro was easy enough to get a handle on, then you go over all the "song" pieces from 1:36 to 5:40 slowly/thoroughly straight into playing them all together at 5:40 at a fairly quick tempo (for me at least), and I'm finding it kind of hard to make the jump to assemble the song pieces together/play along at that speed. Thanks either way!

@pickinpaddy58426 жыл бұрын
How accurate are the tabs to this video? Seems to be a couple differences between the 2, maybe typos?
@JimPankey6 жыл бұрын
...and therein lies the issue with tabs. It's better to take ideas you know and try to emulate what I'm showing in the video instead of rushing to the tab and trying to find a shortcut. Truthfully, even when I demonstrate the tune in the video I play it differently each time. The tab probably has more than just a couple of differences simply because I play by ear and then try to tab something as a close approximation at best. The way I present it in the video as well as the tab is Just a framework to build from, not "the way" the song is played.

If you can’t move that fast, spend more time practicing the basic songs; you’re probably just not ready for this one yet. This is not a beginner song to learn how to play on. You can always use KZbin’s slowdown feature. Plus, there’s a tab available.
