Great concept (and I'm all in if my concerns are met) but....I have a few questions - the website shows a MUCH different boat in the overall layout (March 2021). First off is that it no longer has a front casting deck, though it does have opening storage compartments (nice touch). The one on their website seems to (probably) be roto-molded but I couldn't find specs on materials of construction at all. Weight is listed at estimated 160lbs. Quite a bit more than the 106-108lbs he states for this version of composite. You would think that a roto-molded version would weight less. It says transom mount trolling motors only, bow mount isn't mentioned. Size of motor has gone from 3hp down to 2.5hp - not a big deal in my book. Price is $2400, including freight to your door. So the price has gone down - if it is still a composite material instead of roto-molded. If it is roto-molded, it's quite different from the $900-$1200 he quotes in this video for a plastic version. Maybe freight is $1200 and if you pick it up yourself, it can be had for $1200 (plus tax of course)??? The website shows computer generated pictures except for the videos. A little unusual. They might want to change that. The last comment is that East Cape's website doesn't list this boat at all, it has it's own website. This video says that they are related/connected/owned by East Cape. He specifically states that it is an East Cape Skanu. I would love to hear back from the company due to the fact I think the concept is awesome. Also, I am located in central Florida as well.

Pushing $4k and rated for only up to 3hp? Those are two HUGE negatives. It should be at closer to $2500 and maybe rated for at least 5/6hp. I've seen other videos showing that these do around 11mph. If I wanted to go slow, I'd get another kayak.

Joe Digout my bad you did not say 360.... So in actuality after you rig the Skanu with a motor, trailer, and all accessories it still will cost more than a PA 360. You don't have to have a trailer for a PA, but the Skanu I would think would be a little more difficult to rooftop with a motor. Not trying to be confrontational.

9ri99s no I’m not being confrontational either you have a valid argument but when you read it out....it sounds kind of insane doesn’t it?? A trailer, motor and much more of a boat cost around the same as a Hobie 360???? I’m a kayak fisherman but value and money means a lot to me and I just can’t justify Hobie anymore..... it’s a lot of money for in the end is just plastic. It’s been my dream to own one since 2012ish ....I’ve made my peace with this topic.
