Also Rwanda! During the genocide, Kagame's RPF were sporting a lot of Strichtarn bought from East German stocks. Canadian Peacekeepers recognized the uniforms - General Dallaire had an anecdote in his book about seeing Kagame's guys looking like East German soldiers.

In Germany it's called Ein- Strich-Kein-Strich. It means one line, no line. And usually it was used to camouflage in woods with needle trees. So I don't know how the F this should be helpful in the desert 🤣

The tan and brown lines actually blend in really well in most desert environments, and are even more effective if there is light brush in the environment.

No, Germany was selling off the east German equipment to both countries and private buyers , they ordered it basically send a couple dudes to Pakistan then they order a couple hundred uniforms and then smuggle them back into Afghanistan. Why east German camo? Well mostly because it was extremely cheap.
