This was epic you guys! 👍 We Germans should be full of guilt as ashamed as well, for how we looked like in the 90's! I go down to my knees because I was already a teen, full involved in the GDR community [without an accent you noticed, right] and also responsible for this pictures we painted for the rest of the world. Anyways 😂 The longer the video last the better it gets. There was so much within this short movie. Where Jerry is holding the f6 cigarettes, they btw survived until today. Also so much proved stereotypes and the guy in Cologne who's talking to Jerry, made me falling down from my couch 😂

The British have separate taps because the hot water could be contaminated and unsafe (to drink). They had open boilers for the hot water. (See Tom Scott)
@RoderikvanReekum2 жыл бұрын
@77-ca-1-76 It's more complicated then that, see the following video for detailed explanation "tom scott british taps" there is some logic to it.
@busking62922 жыл бұрын
It used to be that the only SAFE drinking water was from the kitchen 'cold' tap which was at mains pressure,all the other taps hot and cold were fed from a loft water tank which could become contaminated over time,this was ALSO fed by the mains supply but only gravity was used from the tank to the various other taps and boiler feeds.Most of the tanks were plastic or galvanised steel with just a cover on top for ease of access and were almost never cleaned internally(awkward and difficult job mostly)
@RoderikvanReekum2 жыл бұрын

The mean household income in the United States was $6900.00 in 1965, the year that Medicare and Medicaid were established. The cost of a month's stay in a hospital was easily paid in full by a middle-class household in a reasonable time. Currently, the average monthly cost of hospital care is about $80,617 US dollars. The intrusion into healthcare by the government raised the cost of healthcare 600% from 1965 to 1975. At 11:14 the "East German town" shown is actually the Kornmarkt in Zwickau, Saxony. It's where the aforementioned Holiday Inn used to be located, by now called First Inn. Never has been particularly busy of spot because as there is no real business there, while down the street is the Hauptmarkt with cafes and other shops, quite busy back then and even today. Also; Back then 20:30 was a somewhat misleading time to pick in Germany to judge "activity" of people on the street. German TV has the tradition of showing news at 20:00, and then some interesting movie/show at 20:15. So between 20:00 and around 22:30 plenty of German streets can be eerily empty, particularly back then when streaming wasn't even much of an option.

@Zen Well, maybe I am overimagining things here, because I like him as well as being German myself. But I do feel like whenever he insults people or is racist about something, it is not in fact meant that way. Not in an insulting or deminishing way at least. It may be criticism, but in many cases it is his way of processing difficult subjects into a story that is lighthearted enough to be enjoyed. I mean he managed to scrape quite a few parts of deep-rooted world-moving problems that originate in Germany, while not making them so overbearing that the 30min long episode becomes a heavy history documentary. Because that is never what was intended.

That first German who spoke at the beginning , his name was Hans !! He was brought by English parents from 4 months of age and didn't say a word until he was 14 !! He banged the table with his fist and shouted " This AppleStrudel is cold in the middle !!!" . His English parents said " Hans all these years you say nothing !? All these years you are silent ! why ? " . Hans said " Because up until now everything had been quite satisfactory ! ".

01:36 Just to be fair... The Empire of Austria-Hungary startet WW1 in 1914, and the German Empire was obliged to join and support that war because of the Austro-German alliance treaty. Same with WW2; a crazy Austrian dictator started WW2... and Germans did follow him blindly.

32:03 - erm ... the EU was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012, Britain left it in 2020, so now Germany actually has a prize for peace and Britain doesn't. 😁

@17:28 BTW: The guy who expressed his taste for Blue Nun asked after drinking it: "Is' Wein, ne?" Which translates to: "This is wine, isn't it?" So you get some clues about his expertise.

Let's compare our car industry. Germany has Mercedes Benz, BMW, AUDI, VW, PORSCHE, OPEL, RUF, BRABUS, ALPINA. And they own Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Seat, Skoda.... Britain is left with... wait...!? Never mind

"In just over 100 years, they started two world wars, killed 6.5 million Jews, were occupied by four foreign powers, and invaded almost all of their neighbors. So it's no wonder that the Germans had very little time to learn a musical instrument. Whatever radio station you tune in to, it's always complete rubbish. If I gave my 6 year old daughter a violin I'm sure she would make a more appealing noise." Love these lines to describe Germany in a nutshell (and, of course, completely leaving aside that Germany is the home of classical music and even the British coronation anthem was composed by a German (Händel)...)

Hahah, the part about the radio stations is still true. Blows my mind every time when I drive through Germany how awful their musical taste is, or at least, that of their radio DJs.
@jan_7772 жыл бұрын
May be you're just unable to tune in to the right stations. The music is the same in every country, nothing good nor bad about it. Always the same top ten on the main stations.
