Many thanks for all the effort creating this video. I grew up with these trams in the sixties and still live in the town. I have often wondered of the exact positioning of the tracks in relation to the current scenes. Wonderful!

Like so many others I expect, I rode on the Eastbourne tramway sometime in the 60's, my family lived at the time in Hastings. Having always had a love of all types of railway this was a day out during the holidays. I now live in Dorset an hour away from Seaton and have a ride on the tram when time allows. Excellent video showing the route, unbelievable how much the area has changed, although the route itself is still largely unused.

There's something so intensely human about these sun-bleached, slightly ramshackle coastal places which just doesn't exist anymore- shorts and pullovers, ice cream cones and a salt breeze, dad in a tweed jacket, and the family Austin parked nearby. Now everything, the shacks, the shingle and the big sky have been removed, and the developers townscape could be anywhere in Britain. "The shoddy splendours of the new civility."

Very interesting. I find it amazing how barren the area was all those years ago and to see it now all built over. However it is also a lot greener in places!

Amazing film archive history. It is beyond belief how Claude Lane with help built this tramway at Eastbourne and all the trams. The amount of work entailed is staggering. If he is looking down on its rebirth in Seaton he would be very proud and impressed with the way the tramway has prospered. I lived nearby in Brighton in the 60s and visited it. I now always make a visit when in South Devon. Keep up the good work.

A very sad memory. As a child I lived in Martello Road, and used to wander across Princess Park, and watch the Trams go bye. I never could believe the short sighted Council closure, as a tram all along the sea front was believed by many people to have been a useful asset to the town.

Very interesting 'then and now' pictures! It's a pity that the trams aren't still there. It's also a pity that those seafront apartment buildings put up during the last 55 years, are so blocky and spoil the coastal scene.

Sad. I always like then and now videos but no matter what the subject I always prefer "then".
