Made me a bit cry this. Todd Carty played Mark's character really well and great to have around in the 90s. It was tough at times when he had to take on the HIV storyline.

I haven't seen Eastenders since the late 90s but just now watching this hits me right in the feels. Right before this I saw the clips of Lofty returning to Walford for Dr Legg's funeral. So many memories of the early years of the show.

Definitely should’ve watched up until 2009/10/ imo. The first half of 2000s decade of eastenders still had a carry over of the 90s feel to it.

I think its the fact it takes us all back to better days, we may have had it hard at times but now the uk is so full of pc bs its an insult to those who lost their lives making the country what it became. Todd Carty, who played Mark, actually disagreed with the storyline. He felt Mark had many years left... as someone he based the character on lived a lot longer. Mark only tried 3 combinations of HIV drugs so the storyline was unrealistic in that sense. Patients go on to try more combinations than three! He was angry that Mark was killed off too early & felt like it took hope away from the real people suffering from HIV, he very much hoped that Mark's storyline didn't make HIV patients give up hope that their lives could be long & successful.

I found it so sad when Mark is told by his doctor that his anti retrovirus meds are no longer working and he has only months to live. He attempts suicide later but Sharon stops him thankfully and convinces him to make the most of the time he has left.
