The way I make my ham is to score it and then stud it with whole cloves. Then make a mixture of Orange marmalade and stone ground mustard. One jar of each. Slide the ham into a Reynolds oven bag and pour the mixture on top of it. DELICIOUS 😋!!!

Best ham recipe I have found, tweaked and use is Noreen’s kitchen, balsamic glazed ham. It only uses about 2 tablespoons of vinegar as well as seasonings, maple syrup, brown sugar and Dijon mustard. I tweaked it by heating up the ham in about 4 cups of ginger ale before you start glazing it. I also add about 8 pieces of crystallized ginger chopped up and a 1/4 tsp of ground ginger to the glaze. It’s delicious and gets raves whenever I take it to gatherings. 😄

I LOVE that you make those chocolate mint brownies!! We call them Fudge Mint Bars in my family but the recipe is very very similar. My step-mom has made these every Christmas since before I can remember off a recipe passed down to her from her mom, and she passed the recipe down to me as well. She even serves them in her new cookie shop! Such nostalgia haha :)

I thought I was bad at holidays! Girl, you cooked your ass off! I'm sure they all appreciated it, you are an excellent cook and you try so hard to please family! Sounds like me! That's why they all like to come to your house! I grew up in a home like that, my mom was a great cook and holidays were always special. I managed to continue the legacy which has always been appreciated and will be remembered by my children and grandchildren. That's what you are doing, creating memories. Hard work, but worth it, it's a great way to show your love.

For the broccoli salad try steaming it just a little then cool in the fridge. I do this when I make my salad and I just find it absorbs the dressing flavor so much more and it's easier to digest 😊

That coconut cream pie looked so yummy, I always make my grandmas recipe, mostly we put Meringue on top. Bit sometimes I'll put whipped cream. Speaking of which, That cinnamon Macchiato thing you got from Starbucks, didn't the cream stuff remind you of meringue (I tried it last week, at least that's what I thought) 😂. Sorry, I'm a Ramblin 😂. Everything looked SO yummy! I miss big family dinners...Have a great week! Hugs~Chelle

We always fix a Cook's brand ham (the butt portion and it has a bone in it). I get mine at Walmart And they are always a good size. I live in Texas so I don't know if you have them in Iowa. All I do is wrap that ham in heavy duty foil and bake in a 200 degree oven for 6-7 hours. When I take out of oven, I open it up and let it cool some then transfer into another container and cover with foil and refrigerate. It is easier to slice when cold. These ham's are lightly smoked and and there is no need to season it with anything. Everyone always requests my hams. You can easily freeze any leftovers and i always leave a little on the bone and use that when I cook either a pot of pinto beans or big white butter beans and that's all the seasoning you need in those.

I always make our holiday ham this same way and everyone always requests me to make it for the family gatherings. So soo yummy! I hope you try it and I’m sure you and your family will love it as much as we do! The leftovers are also amazing! 1 fully-cooked, bone-in ham (I use a 10 lb ham) 1 1/4 cups packed dark brown sugar 1/3 cup pineapple juice 1/3 cup honey 1 large orange, juiced and zested 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place ham in a roasting pan. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, honey, orange juice, orange zest, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Set aside. Bake ham in preheated oven uncovered for 2 hours. Remove ham from oven, and brush with glaze. Bake for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, brushing ham with glaze every 10 minutes.

i make pasta sauce in my instant pot in 10 min on manual (or pressure cook depending on model) all the time. I saute a bit of garlic and onion and then I add 2 cans tomatoes, some tomato paste, a touch of sugar, some Italian seasoning and a cup of water and put it on manual for 10 min. I cook the pasta right in the sauce too with extra water added. My family loves it and I only have one pot to clean.

Jen this was amazing! You are one fantastic hostess. I love seeing what different countries eat for special occasions too. In Australia we typically have ham at Christmas time. Ours comes with the leg bone still in & the outer skin layer. It’s cured (so cooked) I usually peel the outer skin off (& discard) then score the fat in a fancy diamond pattern. We stud it with whole cloves & baste it with either orange marmalade OR orange juice. Then bake it for an hour or so. It’s delicious & is great hot or cold. I’ve never thought of making ham gravy...that’s a brilliant idea & I’m trying that this year. Thank you for all your hard work filming, editing & sharing your life with us. Blessings to you & your family 😘

Jen, for someone who likes to prep ahead this might come in handy. I’ve gotten in the habit of making ham bone broth / stock every now and then to cook beans in...and I guess you could use it for ham gravy. I just put 3 or 4 smoked ham hocks in the IP covered with water and cook it for about 30 minutes. Then I pick off all of the usable meat and add the bones and scraps back to the IP along with any herbs or spices I want to use. Then pressure cook it again for an hour or so. I strain the broth & freeze it in quarts for later use. I add the ham meat to some and leave some just broth. Better than bouillon also makes a jarred ham soup base. I picked up a jar but haven’t tried it yet.

Hey Jen, If you are looking for a better Parmesan cheese try the Parmigiano Reggiano they sell at Costco. It is awesome and has way more taste than the packaged ones from the grocery store. My mom always does baked ham with cloves. She also bakes it in a paper grocery bag in a baking dish. I have no idea why she does it but I assume she learned it from my grandmother because she also bakes ham in a paper bag lol

Great video! I usually buy 1/2 boneless ham. I put it in slow cooker with brown sugar, mandarin oranges with 1/2 the juice, pineapple chunks with 1/2 the juice, and half a jar of maraschino cherries with some juice. Cooked on high for maybe 1 1/2 hours. We then use the juice from the slow cooker as gravy. (Obviously we know it’s thin.) Then when stored we include the liquid. It’s delicious plus it frees up the oven for other things. Btw all your recipes looked yummy! Also don’t know if you’re aware, but Better than bouillon makes a ham broth; which is good.

Jen Chapin They make a lot of different better than bouillons, but the ham one is super hard to find. I think I found it at my Giant Eagle. I’m on Ohio so don’t know if you have Giant Eagle. I thought you found mafalda macaroni at your Hyvee. We don’t have Hyvee here. Let me know if you find the ham one! Maybe I could help. My family loves your channel!!!
