Hello friends! I am excited to announce that my debut album, Easter Rising, is now available on all music platforms! I recorded and produced this album myself and it has been a long time coming. I was hesitant to do so without a studio and professional production artists but I decided to go for it! I hope you enjoy this rendition of Come Out Ye Black and Tans by Dominic Behan. Bravo! 👏🏼 Any idea what year the original was written? I was just discussing with a friend how The Irish of WWI, who left in the years surrounding the Easter Rising to fight had to have had a different view from men of other countries when Armistice came. To leave your family in an era of political violence, to fight a war for Britain, and come home and go straight into the Revolution and then their Civil War. They fought an enemy they didn’t know. They fought for a country that wasn’t theirs, and no matter if you were RIC/Black and Tans or IRA… one way or another you fought your countrymen. Some of them who at one point fought a common enemy. Gosh, how do you just keep going? Battle worn but tenacious and determined. I’m always a bit amazed when I think about the Irishmen of that era.

There idea behind fighting was they would go betrayed it will be trained and then go fight in World War I and come back as a trained force to help retake or still help retake the contract others used the war as a distraction to the British to get them by surprise. But with those who came back fighting in the war Realize so much had changed and and just a few short years it caused a lot of mixed feelings which is what further led to the Irish war of independence and then later in 1922 the Irish Civil War

Basically. Prior to WW1 there was a vote in British parliament for Irish home rule. But that vote was postponed due to the war. Many Irishmen who went over believed they were trying to prove themselves equal to their English counterparts in the eyes of parliament and therefore prove themselves worthy of home rule. It’s for this reason that many Irishmen in the British army felt angry and betrayed when they heard about the Easter Rising. Like their sacrifices meant nothing to their countrymen. It was after they returned from WW1 that parliament showed their true colors, then the men who just spent the past 4 years learning how to fight to the death joined a fight for a more noble cause.

All rubbish I'm afraid, it's much simpler and most people try to make it far more complex than it is, hence they get it completely wrong. It's just one Irish families injustice towards another Irish families in Dublin in the 1930's...Its as simple as that!

Great words from a great man however they have nothing to do with the meaning and timeframe of the song I'm afraid as "the English" in the song are nothing to do with "the English" as they were in actual fact Irish not English. Not to understand that means you have completely misunderstood the lyrics Behan wrote albeit they are connected to social injustice in Dublin under an Irish Free State goverment.

There was none so violent as The Squad, which was run by Michael Collins after the 1916 Rising and throughout the war of independence. The British & Irish Establishments would like you to believe that 'terrorism' only applies in the mordern era, but they've always called the IRA 'terrorists' no matter in which era they were fighting. The Irish Revolution has been violent & ruthless, they learned from the masters of state terrorism in the British state, which inflicted misery & servitude on its colonial subjects.
