Can we agree that she made her life harder than it needed to be by having 9 children with a low income job. 0 sense of responsibility. What a bad message to send. Just have kids you can't afford and someone will always be there to bail you out. Getting government housing, food, AND $/child every month for making poor life decisions....yeah I love the USA.
@johneBGood4 жыл бұрын
@@user-dy2xu3uv8k No, I can not agree with you. I do not know her whole story. What was her husband´s job and so many other questions are unanswered? I find it difficult to judge anyone, especially if I have not walked in their shoes.
4 жыл бұрын
@@johneBGood Very true. In context of today's hyper-charged political environment, hard work and consistency transcends race, social status and ideology. Immigrant asian households build upon foundation of education and hard work to achieve their goals; nothing is taken for granted.
@user-dy2xu3uv8k4 жыл бұрын
@@johneBGood There needs to be some level of accountability for having 9 children. If her husband had a level of income to support 9 children than his life insurance/ pension from his great job would have been more than enough to take care of her and the kids. If not, then they were clearly not able to have/care for that many children. Then, the only way to support that family is to get money from the government. If that is the case then they are on so much assisted living (9 kids worth) than there is no struggle for money. The average aide, per kid, is $600 here in New York. Could you imagine her getting $5400/month just for having kids she can't afford. On top of that, working a low paying job allows her to make just under the amount needed to opt her out of many aide programs. Further allowing her to collect money from the government (on top of the money she gets from the kids), just for her own aide. I understand the concept of walking a mile in her shoes but when do we hold her accountable? I still don't agree that rewarding someone for poor planning and preparation in life; especially when it comes to having excessive amounts of children, is something that should be glorified. What I'm saying about their financial circumstances is common sense.

I am crying. You can tell she is loved by everyone she works with. School custodians are usually left out of everything. They are so important for our children's health atvschool. I am so glad she is loved enough to have been nominated and selected. What a beautiful way to start the holidays. It's not about how much you give, it's the giving that makes a difference. I'm from Australia, but I follow this series every year. Its amazing and I have absolutely nothing but respect to Secret Santa for the work he has done to help the community around him. We can all do our small part, but to see someone with so much give so much shows that humanity is simply that, humanity. Rich or poor, we are human and we have a obligation to help one another where and when we can. Thank you to everyone in this video.

This one really hit me hard. My mother also came from Japan. After a few moves around the US with the military, my father left us for a few years when he retired from the Air Force. She learned to drive, and even before that, took a taxi to work to support us. My father came back over a year later and they purchased their first house. He died about a year later, leaving mom mother with 3 children, 8, 10 and 12 years old. Thankfully he had some life insurance and died suddenly, so there were no medical bills, and my mother was able to take some time to grieve before having to return to her rather low paying job. Culturally, it is uncomfortable for traditional Japanese people to accept random gifts. I don't know as much about the men, but the women tend to be quite giving, without expecting others to return the generosity. Is it possible for someone trustworthy that knows her to set up a go fund me account to help pay off the medical bills?

It's gotta be tough in a foreign country where you haven't fully learned the language and your significant other dies. Hopefully this pushes her forward and she gets what is deserved. This next drink is to her and her children becoming way more wealthy and all the luck in the world to them.

Three things from this video: 1) Nate is awesome 2) Yuko Shelton is lovely and awesome 3) That view is lovely, awesome and magnificent I can't imagine being in a foreign land, with ten children and losing my spouse. Her extended family, the people who usually step in to help in such situations, are thousands of miles away. She didn’t realise how much the second cheque was for until Nate said. Nate, I discovered your channel during the lockdown, and ever since, I have been captivated by your wonderful stories. The secret Santa you mention, who you refer to as he, truly is an amazing person-an angel among us. I pray that he is blessed with great health and a long life so he can continue to make a difference in people's lives. In this particular episode, something resonated with me, prompting me to wonder what if all the millionaires and billionaires in the world embraced the spirit of secret Santa, setting aside just 1 million dollars to help those truly in need. Imagine the extraordinary impact that would have during this time of year! Thank you, Nate, for being part of this incredible act of kindness. 🇹🇷🇬🇧❤️🙏
