Im extremely honoured to say that I know this man and love him dearly. He put me on his station in 1999 after Det had introduced me to him. Over the 4 years I DJ'ed for him I havent got one bad or even slightly negative word to say about him. One thing i do joke about is that I always had to remind East (every six months) that the clocks changed in the middle of my show, texting him a few hours before asking what time he wanted me, then after a few minutes of him arranging things, he would get back to me. I grew up in Kent listening to Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Electro...but when the Rave scene kicked in, I was hooked. There were a few raves round these ways but, when there were no raves on, we used to somehow have copies of things like Ron & SL on Kool, Jungle Fever, The Eclipse/Edge all on cassette tape (who would have thought years later this boy from Kent would perform at a Fever event). I would listen all week in class, i would fall asleep and wake up to the music. Him and Suzie are part of the foundations of Hardcore/Jungle/Drum and Bass, the pillars, a cornerstone, and will always be remembered for that. No words can describe the effect and legacy him and Suzie (plus Smurf, and all the others involved from day 1) have had. The scene and music in it would not be the same if it wasnt for them. Big up Ron for these brilliant interviews. Although I was in the scene, these chats have completed educated me about the music we all love, its history, locations, players, conflicts, and victories. Also big up for the role you played in it yourself, a massive influence to me and many others 🙏 Big up Eastman. Love from all the corners of the scene and from me ❤❤❤

I was born in America in 83. Grew up on so many different types of music throughout the 80s and 90s. I always gravitated towards hip hop and dance as a young one. Toward the end of high school, in 98-99 I was introduced into Jungle/DnB from a good friend. I have never looked back since. I love this culture and the music that stemmed from it and how it spread over to my area and beyond. It is so interesting to learn about all this and to see how it continues to grow and impact younger generations. Truly a special thing for us all. Thank you, Ron for sharing so many detailed interviews with these legendary originators, yourself included. I feel even more educated after I watch these interviews with my heros. My crew and I over here in the US are still producing, djing and throwing events in our area. We aren't famous but we known here and are so happy to be a tiny cog in this massive wheel. Just wanted to share that with you because without this culture I wouldn't be who I am today. Respect.

I’m from a small city, called Preston, in Lancashire. I had no business hearing a Kool FM tape in 1993 but nevertheless, I did. It was the December show with DJ Ron, five 0 and Moose. I played that tape all the time. Never got to the third birthday party but I did go to a few Roasts at the Astoria. I’m stuck in the 90s and listen frequently to old Kool fm tapes on Mixcloud and the likes. Maximum respect Eastman, Susie G, Smurf and the whole family.

Ron, you're one of the best interviewers that I've seen at allowing guests to feel comfortable enough to speak and provide extra information without you having to keep jumping in to move the interview along. In so many interviews I hear these days it seems that the interviewer's voice takes up a lot of the valuable air time. They seem to feel the need to jump in when there's a short pause, not realising that these moments are often the points when guests are evaluating the next nugget of information they're going to provide (often the most interesting parts). This often results in an interview sounding just like a series of short questions and answers. You listen to what your guests say and use the information they've given to build the next question on, offering much deeper insight. Most importantly, it's clear that your guests really like you and feel comfortable with sharing their most poignant memories. Great stuff!

Another thing for Eastman to read, When I was a 14 year old kid, I got my old man to take me to a CB radio shop to find out how to make a good ariel for cheap. I lived in south London and my Kool FM signal was rubbish, so I made this ariel with cable trunking and 3 core flex cable and the connectors and soldered it all together, EVERY SUNDAY I would get this ariel and hang out my bedroom window and throw this contrapction on my dads roof just so I could listen to Super Sunday and make my recordings of my favorite DJs and MCs which I still have on my old TDK 90s :D Thank you Eastman respect :D

Great podcast no excellent podcast From the foundation. Many parts resonated with me personally. As a man born and bred in hackney I remember so much of these times. KOOL fm is part of my growing up and still have all my tapes and the memories of what I’ve personally witnessed or just remember the stories at that time. I was lucky enough in my career to play on a handful of stations including rinse and have no doubt at all in my mind that this is truly the next level of greatness for KOOL and for all those involved. There isn’t even a list of people I could say would be the best people other than Geeneus and family to maintain the levels of KOOL. I know only a little of the passion it takes to run radio and Gee and co are the ones the only ones to take this task. So peace love manners and respect to Eastman, Susie and every single player and chess parts that made up the greatest jungle / DNB station in the world. I am proud to be from hackney To the present and future ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

So great to see the emotion coming out from you both. What I loved hearing about Eastman is how principled he is as a human and as a business man. Im certain that he was fundamental in keeping the pirates working together to beat the DTI. He's obviously got the bigger picture in his head and heart and made sure it was always about the music and the community the scene built and continues the build. I doubt the scene would be anything like it is now without Eastmans huge efforts. Solid guest Ron! The scene is so much more than the DJs.
