In this video I show you the simple way of bleeding a hydraulic disk brake setup. All you need is a rubber hose and a spanner! (and a little bit of time)

Great video, I was looking for help to bleed my disc brake on a 140cc vega and your video was very informative and helpful, thanks👍

Glad I came across this. I never knew that about the brake fluid. The screws which I’ve got in mine Or that there were different types. At last I’ll be able to do it properly rather than my usual bodge

I have a front and rear disc and use the eeezeybleed system, it takes seconds to sort brakes out, you can buy these off eBay for about £20 , maybe you could do a video on it rob

Hey man! What do you think it might be or how can you adjust the lever to feel hard again because I've changed the fluid and the lever is so light and it doesn't break till you fully compress the lever
@kickbackgarage Жыл бұрын
Air in the system. Try and bleed it again.

Really enjoying the videos . I have a Scootrs front brake set up which has the Nissin Caliper and Master Cylinder. I have no problem bleeding but I only get a couple of mm movement in the brake lever and I find it too harsh. I see with your set up you have normal movement in your lever. Is the Scootrs a crap set up or am I doing something wrong ?
@kickbackgarage4 жыл бұрын
My sons series 1 has the scootrs disk brake. They are very "grabby" and actually a bit too powerful. The mmw master cylinder is more modular than the nissin and helps to stop it bite as hard. One cheap thing you can do to calm it down a little is fit original Honda branded brake pads. This will help calm it down a bit but the master cylinder we have from jockeys boxenstop really does wonders for it. The internals are from brembo and are much easier to regulate the power. That's my tip at least. Try pads first but that will not change the throw in the lever but will calm it down a little. Hope that helps.
@@kickbackgarage I think you are right it is the master cylinder. There's no feel in the brake it's like an on/off switch. Thanks for the reply

What would I have to do to turn the caliper around ? I have the same pm tuning caliper and have the bleed nipple on the bottom. It was working on one scooter but when I swooped it over to another scooter I now can’t get it to build any pressure.. was wondering if by turning the caliper around like you mentioned it may help me.. great vid by the way.. thanks .!Paul

It's a pain but loosen the front wheel bolts and that should let you screw off and slide the caliper completely free. Just put a spanner between the pads while you bleed it. That's how we have to bleed the casa disk too.

Hello. I have just tried for my first time to do this but I think I did not do it right. The reason I think this is because after putting everything back together my rear caliper seems to be too close to the grip when I press it down. The rear brake seems to work, but it seems way too close to the grip when applying the brake. I have also changed the caliper and it even has new pads in, so it isnt because the pads are worn or pistons out. Do you think this is an indication that air is still in the system? If I use a cable tie do you think it may resolve the issue?

If at first you dont succeed, try again.

Thanks. I'm working up the knowledge (and courage) to attempt this on my SYM HD200. No one will work on it in Nashville TN as they consider it a "Chinese" scooter. When I say it's not Chinese, It's made in Taiwan, they look at me and say, "Yeah, like I said, we don't work on Chinese scooters." I'm a little worried that the rubber diaphragm might need replacing as I can't find them anywhere. It's a 2009 SYM HD200 and I wouldn't be surprised if the fluid has never been changed. Have you ever seen a diaphragm that should be replaced? Thanks again. Great job.

There are quite a few sym in Norway and you shouldn't have any problem bleeding the brakes. Maybe these guys can help you with parts? www.scooterloungeonline.com/symhd200evoparts
@Juppie9023 жыл бұрын
Theyre kinda right, because Kymco and SsangYang (not to be confused with SsangYong, who makes cars) a.k.a SYM actually have interchangeable parts with chineese scooters like a GY6. Source: I owned a Kymco Movie 125XL, and now a Kymco Downtown 350i. The advantage we have over the Honda and Kawasaki (along with suzuki, yamaha) boiis is that we can straight up go shopping on AliExpress and EBay and come out fine.

Fuckin brilliant Rob, just setting up my SPAQ from new, some good tips there, I didnt know about the screws in the reservoir...nice one.
@FrederiekeBenIk Жыл бұрын
What happens if the reservoir gets empty when draining? Will I be able to put new brake fluid in and just get all the air out?
@kickbackgarage Жыл бұрын
Yes but you have to chase the air all the way though the line.

Hi.. I am from India and having lambretta scooter 150 model 1971 made.. now what happen every time if I want to start after 2 days or a week I have to open air filter n hose pipe then Press carburettor air hole and then after few clicks get started. . And also spark plug got huge carbon layer after 3 to 5 KM runs..plz help me what to do ...and few oil spray comes through exhaust
@kickbackgarage2 жыл бұрын
Either the carburettor is flooding or it is running rich because either tyour airfilter is blocked (I presume India can get quite dusty?) or your jets are too big. Chack and clean the carburettor and make sure your air intake system is not blocked.

Hello, when replacing the pads by mistake I hit the break and the disk is stuck and stiff. Do you know what to do, please?

Yes. You have to remove the wheel and press the pistons back into position.

i have a bad vibration when i apply the front brake, shudder?? on my px 200 , 2008 can you help me please
@kickbackgarage Жыл бұрын
There is loads of things that can cause judder. Loose or worn headset bearings, worn fork link bearings/bushings, warped disk, glazed brake pads.
@george5590 Жыл бұрын
thanks, any way to diagnose the main problem. I do not think its disks and pads.

6 months usually from opening the new bottle of brake fluid it will keep its freshness 😉
@kickbackgarage4 жыл бұрын
I think that depends on how much/little is left in thd bottle. Wasteful really. I wish the sold smaller bottles.
@exsoulagent4 жыл бұрын
Kickback Garage agree, stuck between a rock & a hard place, do you buy a small bottle and diy it or take it too a garage and let them do it. I use the hydraulic tool for replacing the fluid, 30 seconds and it’s all done 😆
