How to make safe and easy plywood push blocks for a Jointer, Router or the Table saw. The wooden pegs help for even more hold when milling thicker, wider boards. I need to joint a lot of pallet wood for my next project but i didn't have any push blocks for my jointer, the boards are very thin and narrow so it is not the safest to handle them with bare hands.

LOL, I was going to reply no thanks for screws on a push stick, then remember its not for a table saw. The legs to help pull the wood across is genius though! Along with the grippy stuff, etc. Seems excellence is par for the course on this channel.

***** I think I might spend up a couple of pegs through a couple holes through my bench dog push black that I have the other day I slipped a little when I was face jointing a board so can never be too safe on the jointer or any tool for that matter thanks for the idea

Great video. I like your workmanship but I would never use screws for a push block on my table saw. Dowels or biscuits would be better. No concerns with non through cuts

Just a thought, maybe you can leave one end of the dowel a bit fat so it doesn't go through the hole and make the hole a bit large on the underside so it can go up into it when you don't need it and on the top use the steel nut or just glue a circle on...
@Ollaris
@Ollaris 7 жыл бұрын
+terapiu great thought! I just planed some thin boards and sometimes the underside of the peg catches on the blade and splits. I had to make a few spare for quick change. For me is this the quicker way. I try your suggestion too! Thank you

tip my friend: what if the table saw blade meets with the screw you used on the bottom for the handle? :)

That's a good point! honestly i don't think i will use it on the Table saw. too close to the blade for my taste.

Why don’t Americans use guards or riving knives on the table saw?
@Ollaris
@Ollaris 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know. I’m from Europe.
@antmallett6065

Two big problems with these push blocks. Firstly, the handle should be offset by 7 - 10 degrees vertically, as this allows the block to stay closer to the fence, because your hand won't be in the way. Secondly, using two push blocks on a euro-style planer is bad technique, for the followingl reasons. You are using the guard incorrectly. Your front hand should actually touch the guard when it is fully covering the cutter head, and your fingers should be on the outfeed table, applying pressure in the right place, which leads to better face planing especially with thinner boards. So by using 2 blocks, you are ignoring the best safety feature on your machine. 2 blocks are used to work with the inherently inferior 'pork chop' style jointer guards Americans favour. Probably because they don't know any better. And by using a block on the outfeed side, you lose 'feel', making you push too hard, which leads to inconsistent results. The only place a block belongs on your style of machine is on the infeed side.

Why making push blocks - and than using a Route that very dangerous way??? THAT is a no go. Sorry.
