Dear Joshua Weissman and fellow viewers- Just wanted to let everyone know that I tried this recipe and it was great! The only thing I would recommend is making the churros a bit thinner because otherwise they are too chewy and not as crisp. I never write youtube comments but I really wanted to share a story that I was reminded of when trying out this recipe... 5 years ago, my best friend and I discovered a Bigger Bolder Baking video about microwave mug chocolate pudding. Every time we hung out we would make this recipe together, and sometimes even at the same time over FaceTime. Sadly we drifted apart and no longer speak, meaning that I completely forgot about this pudding tradition that we had. Strangely enough, when I was making the chocolate sauce for this recipe, I tasted it and I knew it tasted familiar but didn't know why. Hours later, it hit me and I realized this chocolate sauce tasted extremely similar to the pudding from years ago. I know this story is a little weird, but I thought it was such a great way to show the impact food can have on our connections with people and distant memories. Thanks for reading.

I've made these before (By that I mean I've made that kind of dough I didn't follow your recipe) and I think they're nice but they don't taste like "real" churros (by that I mean the churros that I get in Spain). Spanish churros also aren't sweet per se. The sweetness comes from dipping them in hot chocolate (very thick hot chocolate with corn starch) and sugar that you get from the café that will inevitably be right next to the churreria where you pay like 50 cents for way too many churros (Or you just get them for free because they are cold). Also in Spain they will make a huge "Snail" which they snip after frying.

Ok quick tip for ppl who haven't made choux pastry dough PLEASE LET THE DOUGH COOL FOR A SEC. You pour all those eggs in hot batter and a hot pan at once you're gonna get scrambled sugary dough.....which is not ideal for churros :( (or any profiterole, cream puff, gourgere or eclair for the matter). But if you must not wait throw the batter in a stand mixer while adding the eggs or using a handmixer doing the same (while on duh)
@pampsbakery97375 жыл бұрын
Emaline L. You’re right, I just made this recipe a few hours ago and was concerned of putting in the eggs right after because I didn’t wanna waste all the ingredients, so I thought about it and put it in the stand mixer for a while to let it cool a bit, adding the eggs after which really made the recipe so so much than it already was!! This recipe was a huge success, it was my first time making churros and everyone in my family loved it, however I would add less salt next time.

I made this and it was great. A little advice, having multiple people can help a lot during the deep frying and sugar coating process

As a Spaniard, I feel obligated to say that those look more like what we call "Porras" than churros. The difference between them is that Porras are thicker and fluffier than churros, for anyone wondering. We also tend to use white sugar by itself to coat them because it's cheaper lol. Other than that, nice rendition :D P.S. Try making hot chocolate and dipping them, you won't regret it, especially during winter ;)
