tip for any lasagna recipe: cook 10-15 minutes less than the recipe, leave in fridge for a few hours (preferably over-night) and then recook for 30 minutes before serving. this helps the lasagna to set and not fall apart. also its yummier the next day :)

I made this tonight for the first time, but made one small change. I used lean ground beef as it suggested in the video, but I cooked it up in a separate skillet and drained off the excess fat before adding it to the main pot. Everything else was done the same as in the video.The finished product was amazing. Thank you ONE POT CHEF !!

@karlphillips1 Absolutely - it's also great for making in bulk and freezing in portions. I make a huge lasagne, bake it and then put in the freezer. I get up to 10 serves out of a single lasagne. Great for when I can't be bother cooking!
@thornekatt12 жыл бұрын
Just FYI, I'm sure you know, but for anyone who doesn't....if you cut your lasagne into single serving portions and wrap them individually, and then in a large ziplock bag, it freezes beautifully! Just thaw in the fridge or microwave, then heat it up, and it is delicious!
@LDTube-pz9fq10 жыл бұрын
a tip: when preparing the white sauce after having cooked the butter and flour mixture for a couple of minute, just pour all the milk in, rather than little by little, it's faster and also better to avoid the formations of flour clumps

@terrybaby61465 жыл бұрын
@@razvanp Do you mean the cheese laden version eaten in the US which originated in Naples which, strictly speaking, is referred to as "lasagna?" What the One Pot Chef is making should actually be referred to as "lasagne" since that is British usage and which, as an Australian, he probably should be using, and is is the dish from Northern italy which uses bechamel, not tonnes of cheese.

This is certainly a very good start and this recipe is how I learnt how to make lasagna, but over the years, I have made it my own. For example, I put alot more ingredients into my meat sauce to add alot more flavor. Firstly, I add 2-3 different ground mince meats. Normally beef, pork and maybe lamb if I feel like it (500g of each). It adds so much more flavor. Secondly, I substitute canned diced tomatoes for canned WHOLE tomatoes as they tend to be alot higher quality tomatoes than diced because they obviously have to be whole and intact when they are canned. With diced tomatoes, you get less quality ones because if they are not as good when it comes to canning them after they are grown, it doesn't matter because they are going to be chopped up anyway. I also try to match my tin tomatoes and my pasta sauce with the same brand. In my case, I use Ra Lina (I think that's what it's called). I also put in frozen peas and corn, grated carrot and mushrooms, but I always take the time to cut up and use fresh garlic, rather than jarred. I have never liked the chemical taste and smell of jarred minced garlic. I also add in about a glass of red wine as well. And because I have so much more liquid with both the wine and the stock, I let the whole thing cook and reduce down for a good few hours. My cheese sauce is pretty much exactly the same, although I make double the amount since I put cheese sauce in every layer, not just on the top. When it comes to the sheets, I now make my own fresh sheets as well, but I make two different types. One dough is just your standard flour and egg mixture and the other one has spinach in it, so I have a yellow dough and a green dough. It's so easy to make. Basically for every cup of flour, it's 2 eggs. So each dough is 2 cups of flour and 4 eggs, except for the green spinach dough which replaces one of the eggs with a regular sized bag of baby spinach leaves, which I boil first for about a minute, then shock in cold water and squeeze out. That is the equivalent of one egg in the green dough. I also mix dough in the food processor, rather than by hand. It is 100x quicker, easier and cleaner. Then you let each dough rest at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes to relax the gluten. Then you cut each dough in half and do half the dough at a time through the pasta machine until you get the thickness and length that you want. When it comes time to assemble, I go meat sauce, cheese sauce, then I add a layer of baby spinach leaves from a large bag and then the pasta sheets and I repeat that process until I get to the top of the pan, which ends up being roughly 16-20 layers all up. Once I cook it and take it out of the oven, I leave it on the stovetop or the kitchen bench sitting on a cutting board for at least an hour so that the sheets and everything else can reabsorb all the moisture so that when you cut it and potion it out, it stays a perfect square cube and looks beautiful and you can see each individual layer, rather than just completely falling apart and looking like a mess. I promise you, if you take the time and make the effort to make a lasagna completely from scratch like this, you will NEVER go back.

I used corned beef from tins in a mine last week , tweeked it a little and its was so good that I'm making it that way again , I often make my own version with some dishes depending on what I have in the kitchen at the time,
