I made this for my daughter in a Throw size (about 40"x40") in a curry/beige/sand. She's got particular taste. But she has it in her living room over her linen couches ❤😂 now I'm making a natural color one in a baby size for her baby who is due in December 🎉

I have a new grandson due in January 🩵🩵 I have only made 1 crochet blanket in my life and I kept it for myself. I struggle with the first row always being tight and seems shorter than the rest going forward 🤦🏻♀️ I really want to make a blanket for the baby but I also want it to look GOOD! I love this pattern and hope to make it🙏🏻
@JewelsandJonesАй бұрын
Aww congratulations! Yeah, the first row can always be a bit tricky with tension and all. I like to keep my chain very loose, you could maybe go up a hook size and then switch back to the hook size recommended in the pattern for the second row. I've also seen people make a chainless foundation chain, it's where you go straight into making the stitches. So those might be a few options that could help with making the first row. 😊

Thank you! I think this project will help because it doesn't take to long and you're repeating two sections for the whole pattern. So it makes it easy in that sense, but it will also keep you engaged. In other words, I don't think you'll get bored. 😊 Also, if your interested, here is a post I wrote when you don't know what to crochet (might help with getting the crochet mojo back) : jewelsandjones.com/10-things-to-crochet-when-youre-bored/

Beautiful pattern ! Can you tell me what size hook to use if I’m using lion brand pound of love yarn for this pattern? The recommended hook on the label is 6mm.
@JewelsandJones3 ай бұрын
Hi there, I would personally make a gauge swatch and see if you need to go up a hook size or go down a hook size (my gauge is listed in the pattern). Yarn weights vary so much, so I would personally make a gauge swatch. This way your blanket also turns out the same as the pattern. 😊
@bobbimagathan94514 ай бұрын
Loving this for a baby blanket I am making. After three rows of double crochet, do you chain one and turn to start the 7th row? Or chain 3? Thank you for the easy to follow swatch. The small example is a great idea!!
@JewelsandJones4 ай бұрын
Thank you. 😊 So yes, you're going to alternate after making three rows of double crochet and 3 rows of the suzette stitch. Here are the written instructions for the pattern: jewelsandjones.com/simple-crochet-baby-girl-blanket-free-pattern/
@bobbimagathan94514 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for responding. I checked the pattern but my problem is when I get to the last stitch of the rows. So single crochet, chain one and turn at the end of Suzette rows. Chain 4-5 is it double on last stitch and chain 3 and turn and continue with the double crochet in the very first stitch and next 3 rows? My blanket is looking like a cape doing that ☹️
@Michelle.052 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicky! I have a question about the 2nd row of double crochet. Does our last DC of row 2 go in the last DC of the first row OR the chain 3? This is something that always confuses me, even when I watch tutorials.

Are you including your chain three in the double crochet row as a stitch or the first double crochet in that first stitch is considered your first and last stitches in the rows

Does the chain 3 count as a DC? You insert the hook in the first stitch and not in the second? When I do this my blanket is turning round at the sides.
@JewelsandJones3 ай бұрын
Hi there, chain 3 does not count as a double crochet stitch. You want to make your double crochet in the last stitch. So you're going to place it in the last single crochet from the previous row. The last stitch can sometimes be a little hard to see, because it's almost on the outer edge. I would put a stitch marker on the last stitch (sc) and this way it's easier to see when you're making your double crochet rows. I hope this helps! 😊

If i wanted to make this in a throw size blanket, how many chains would the foundation chain need to be?

I’m a bit confused, does the 3 chain on the DC row count as a stitch or do I only end up with the 119 total stitches per row? I would be grateful for a quick response 😊 you don’t mention this that I can see.

Somehow i keep losing stitches even though I'm counting and following the pattern to a T. It keeps happening on my row of sussette stitches. Any tips on how i can avoid doing this over and over?
@JewelsandJones10 ай бұрын
Hi there, yes, I would add a stitch marker to the last stitch on the last row of your double crochet sections. The last stitch of the suzette stitch is almost on the side of the row (it's a bit slanted), which makes it's hard to see. You can even add a stitch marker to the last stitch when starting this section. I hope this helps! 😊

Hi there, I'm thinking your tension was a little tight. Did you meet gauge in the pattern?
@gloriafernandez60142 жыл бұрын
HI! I really like to do this but i have tried couple of times already but i am always off with the double crochet.I read that the 3 chains is not included with the counting so with your example of 12 chains, i ended up with 11 double crochet plus the the 3 chains.Is that correct .Thanks
@victoriacatharine14012 жыл бұрын
Hi! this took me so long to figure out, but I finally got it. The first row of chains you chain an even number, then on the second row you go to the second chain and follow the pattern, so you have 1 less stitch than you chained (if you chained 120, you now have 119 stitches). So when you get to the rows of double crochets you should have an odd number.
@JewelsandJones2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, you should end up with 119 stitches for the second row.
@wendygibbs84332 жыл бұрын
I am one stitch short on the second row. There is only one stitch left when I get to the end. Tried it several times. The first row is fine. :/
@JewelsandJones2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm not sure if you're missing a stitch, but sometimes I find that the last stitch is almost hidden and looks like a chain 1 when working the Suzette Stitch. Just a tip, but sometimes I like to add a stitch marker to my first stitch and last stitch in the row. I find this really helpful.
