This is impressive. Built your own exhaust system. Measurements were 95% on point.

Like it man.. really informative.. I've been dieing to do it to mine.. in fact I did mine and got the wrong fitting etc do to the fact I cut the mufflers in a angle where I would have to go to a welder,but I'm Def going to keep giving it a try. I'm all about diy. It's been a couple months just sitting Luke that.. I still have the 45s and the 90s and straight pipes and finally got a cutter. To make it fit perfectly t. But bro the e haust came out super sweet. Great job.. subscribed and liked

We weren’t sure at first, but after some rough measurements and a lot of staring at pictures of the underside of this car with aftermarket systems installed, I started laying out the path in the aisle of the store for one side and just doubled the parts for the other side. If you’re thinking about DIY’ing it over buying a system, I’d say go for it. Even with the name brand magnaflow mufflers it was still half the cost of used systems and a quarter of what it would cost new!
@benjaminhernandez6983 жыл бұрын
@@CrookedMustache oh yea definitely alot cheaper. Thanks for the info and I will definitely go the route you took. Does your a6 still have the cats? I'm getting ready to remove mine soon and install my downpipe I've got on ebay soon. And I'm surprised the quality of the downpipe from ebay and good welds too.
@CrookedMustache3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it, if I could inspire one person to pull the trigger on their DIY project, that’s good enough for me! Downpipes and a larger exhaust are coming, probably once we replace the 200k mile turbos (that shockingly seem to be holding together). Right now it still has stock downpipes and cats. One of the perks of the modularity is since I’ll never go larger than 2.5” per side, the mufflers don’t have to be replaced - just the pipes connecting them to the rest of the exhaust. Hit me up on my IG @crooked_mustache and let me know how it goes. I’d love to see before/after pictures of your car.

Your better off buying the eBay exhaust builders kit there 90 dollars and have enough pipe to make a turbo kit or enough to make a few exhaust systems that are pre bent as well just a heads up plus they're slip fit
@tylerparker30243 жыл бұрын
I gotta tell you. It look awfully warm there to have white smoke coming out of your exhaust. Head gasket?
@CrookedMustache3 жыл бұрын
@Tyler Parker Hmmm, never took temperature into account or condensation, it was morning. She has 200k miles and I’d be shocked if they weren’t the original turbos, which need to be replaced, Im sure the oil seals are tired. The smoke burns of after a a few mins of idling. No water in the oil or vice versa. Thanks for the comment.

It’s new, it’s the engine is getting used to the new piping. Same smoke happened to my G35x, putting on the headers and the new exhaust system.

It woulda been so much better to take it to a shop and pay them to weld it on and welding the hangers woulda been much better and stronger.also 1 more tip id suggest using the c clamp on the mufflers not the band clamp and use a impact wrench to tightn it or if u dnt have 1 use a wrench with breaker bar so your muffler dont rattle off over time But good video and good job doing it yourself

Hi Cameron, thank you for the interest! I have some bad news/good news on the corolla. During my hiatus, the Corolla was not being used and I felt that the car could do good for someone who needed reliable wheels to get around town. I ended up selling it to a gentleman I met who was getting back on his feet for less than the parts I put into it. It went to a good home :)

@Jordan Scott, at the time (material cost could’ve gone up) it was about $350 with the most expensive items being the mufflers.

Sorry guys, but I'm living in a 100-year-old vehicle mod mind-set. The Engine patent we are driving around with is over 100 years old. Exhaust system metal pipes from hell, haha. I can't wait for 2024, more new vehicles will be manufactured with today's new patents.
