me and my sister made this last night and it turned out really yummy! I added a bit more curry powder and garam masala. also if u find that the bread slice is breaking, I suggest flattening it a bit with a rolling pin. I also think it tastes even better the next day! currently eating one while I type this lol. thanks TabiEats!

You can also make curry roux, I usually make my own. Just make roux as normal (melt butter, add flour, cook constantly stirring for around 20 minutes) then add garam masala, chili powder, and curry powder. It's very easy to make =)

V Vii generally warm spices are used for both, so yes these all work for japanese style curries as well. when making japanese style curry usually there is just more sugar of some sort (in my case i add some grated fuji apple and honey) in the soup itself. japanese curries are just more mild in terms of heat and usually have a little more sweetness to mellow them out. There may be more to it I'm not aware of but those who tell me they don't enjoy Indian curries very much like my curry, so give it a try and let me know!
@selenamoreno76897 жыл бұрын
sd99944 why does it have to be for 20 minutes o.o that's a long time for making a roux
@bunbunyami7 жыл бұрын
sd99944 ehhh Japanese curry has soy sauce in it and I also use bulldog sauce sometimes to get the flavour.
@susie22516 жыл бұрын
sd99944 This sounds very good but like an Indian curry. Japanese curry has a lot of ingredients like a mole does, including fruit.

Pretty creative way of getting around the actual breadmaking and fermenting process. As a baker, that is normally the most time consuming part of making any kind of bread.

I think American sliced bread is usually in thinner slices than the Japanese. People might need to buy the variety called "Texas Toast" to make this work without the curry leaking out.

That is actually the exact brand of curry I would buy and cook plain before eating with rice to make it a little more tasteful when I was studying abroad in Japan ;u;" (my college decided to screw me over on my financial aid last minute, so I survived in Japan with maybe about $800 for four months). Regardless, I'll have to try this recipe soon!

I like how square japanese bread is. It's very satisfying. What does japanese curry taste like? Is it similar to Thai or Indian curries?
@spudstwin7 жыл бұрын
I'm so excited to make this soon!! It's a smart idea to use sandwich bread instead of having to make the dough. The only thing I would do different is instead of making it out of one piece of bread using two to make bigger curry pan. lol Oooh I also think a cube of cheese inside of these would be delicious too. As always thanks for the awesome recipe and I hope y'all are having an awesome day. 😊

I did this type of curry 3 ways (I can only find S & B curry, so that's what I use). 1) make bread dough, roll out, put curry mix in, roll it up so the bread covers the curry. Let rise, bake like bread. 2) with bread dough, put the curry in, deep fry (it's kind of a twist on nikumanju, but it's deep-fried instead of steamed) 3) lightly toast pita bread, stuff the pockets with curry
