I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.

Well done. I recently built a large bench vise and used Jay Bates video as a guide. I was looking to build one of these, as an old friend of mine is giving me a lead screw that his grandpa used in a similar leg vice. So, now I want to put it back to use, and this looks like an excellent example that I am planning to plagiarize! Thanks again. Keep up the good work!

My dad has those but he bought a new19.2 lithium ion battery from craftsman and he says they operate better than new. You have to buy the new charger as well, but it's cheaper than getting all new stuff unless that's what you want. I used to have the Craftsman but upgraded to the Makita 18V LXT lithium ion but most are just as good as any other unless you want to break the band on Festool or something. Cool video, btw.

Dema, WOW! What a great leg vise. I really appreciate your willingness to share your skills and ideas. The video production is also first rate. I would never have thought of using a scaffold leg screw and can think of other uses (Moxon vise) for the screw. Much cheaper than the alternatives to the many hundreds of dollars for acme screws and hardware for vise building used by other woodworkers. I can't justify that type of expense and find your videos really helpful. Keep up the great work!

Good looking vise. I am just now finishing up one very similar to yours. I remember the one on the end of my Dad's work bench that I used maybe 50 or 60 years ago. I tried to build mine from my memories, came pretty close I guess. I bought the screw and a chunk of hard maple, but the rest was from scrap wood. I didn't plan on the wheel at the base of the leg, but if it turns out I need one now I have your model to work from. Wish I had seen your video before I started, great job, thanks for sharing.JJ

The entire explanation and process of the project is quite didactic and useful for the work table. as well as the procedure to do it. Just an observation. and it is the fact of not having the culture of safety at work, that you show us. Since those nefarious sandals that have unfortunately become very popular, they detract from the seriousness and manliness of the work

You put a pin in the hole the corresponds to the thickness of the wood, otherwise the bottom would just tweak in and the wood will not clamp evenly
