When I bought my first EV I chose a Wallbox Pulsar Plus as most suitable for my needs and found it to be excellent. It would add around 20 miles range in an hour to my I-Pace and was trouble free. But when I traded in the car for a newer I-Pace I took advantage of the Jaguar free offer and had the Wallbox replaced by a PodPoint Solo 3 and sold the Wallbox to another EV owner. A few months later the chap that bought it contacted me saying it had gone wrong and asking for ideas. I'd not had any problems with it and suggested he contacted Wallbox which he did. It was out of warranty but they swapped it for a new Pulsar Max at no cost to him, great service. My PodPoint works fine but only adds about 14 miles in an hour against the Wallbox's 20, but as I changed the car at the same time as the charger I can't say for sure that's the chargers fault although I believe it is. Also the Wallbox had much better software/app, more user friendly and could do more. For instance in your video you mention that you can lock the charger with a click on the app to prevent unauthorised use if you go away, but with PodPoint you have to buy and fit a separate physical keylock to do that. Recently Jaguar blocked access to the car by Octopus (stating security reasons) so it's no longer possible to use the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff unless unless you have a compatible charger that Octopus can access. The Wallbox Max is compatible but the PodPoint isn't so I really wished I'd kept my original Wallbox! Now I have to either accept Octopus switching me to their Octopus Go tariff which is more expensive for fewer cheap rate hours or switch to a different supplier (also dearer than Intelligent Octopus) or buy a compatible charger which isn't cost effective for me. Long live Wallbox!

I have one of these (well the older Plus, had it for 3 years) other than a glitch that was caused by a s/w bug (I presume, fixed by a on/off)at the consumer unit) its been flawless for charging on the timer. Its installed half way into my garage so i can charge the car in the garage or put the lead outside and charge on the drive, i think it comes with quite a long cable compared to some. Can connect via bluetooth or wifi which is very convenient.

Informative video ... also, Wallbox is continually updating their app, web page and charge point ... if David taps the green button in the app, the charger updates and voila. I have an older version (the Pulsar Plus) installed and it works really well. I've had to connect customer support once (in the first month of installation) due to software issues after an update and they were really helpful and quick to resolve the issue. If you don't feel like calling them you can factory-reset the Pulsar Max from your phone and it resets to the last stable software version ... Lastly, you can have the Power Boost option installed in your fuse box and that mediates the energy use in your house, so if you are running all your appliances etc. AND charging the car, it limits the kW going into your car so that you don't blow a fuse. The only negative ... this unit doesn't allow vehicle to grid/load ... power only goes one way, from house to car ...

Good video, Andy! Or is it Andrew? Short and informative, precisely what most people will want to learn without the ballast I would be tempted to put in there. Wallbox would also be my choice if I weren't knowledgeable and demanding as I am 🙂. I have OpenEVSE from the Open Energy Monitor guys in Wales and did everything myself, including the smart connection *_without_* a CT because I use the data from the smart utility meter. I use solar for charging and in Belgium we only recently have the flexible tariff which I'm not using because I don't have a home battery and that tariff would also hit my injection income too much. So I have a flat tariff. If you are in that case, it is usually not necessary to be able to charge more than 16 Amps. That is my experience. I do understand with flex tariff you want to use it as much as possible, so charging at a higher rate makes a lot of sense, also less charging losses then.

Well done David. You're quite correct Andrew about the granny charging, is it better with a 7kw charger. I have survived for about a year on a granny, but have organised a 7kw for better speed

From the design I guess there isn't an untethered version of Wallbox? Need something for the Dorset office where it's a bit isolated to have the cable hanging out.

I believe this model only works with wi-fi, so it does mean you need to have a decent signal wherever it's installed.

I have been using my pulsar plus (US name) for almost 2 years now. The only downside is that it's really bad at staying connected to wifi. I may have to install an outdoor AP to make it more reliable.

Wallbox have software problems and I regret buying mine. My new Wallbox Pulsar Plus 40-amp charger was installed by a Qmeret certified electrician and due to bad software, it took numerous calls over almost two weeks to just charge my EV. Still some features don’t work. At the prices Wallbox charges you should not be a beta testing their products. If it wasn’t a hardwired installation I would return the charger.
@Nse197 ай бұрын
Hate this charger. It keeps dropping the wifi and you have to restart the charger for it to reconnect. You can't reconnect manually via the app, it won't find any wifi even though there are 2 with good signal. When you restart the crap it finds wifi again. Had the same problem with the Wallbox Pulsar Plus.

The first unit for customer failed within six months, and although it was eventually replaced, the second unit broke down 12 months later. Despite being promised a replacement, it has been two weeks with no replacement and no communication from Wallbox. Every time I call their support number, I'm stuck on hold indefinitely, as if my number is being ignored. I'd consider taking them to small claims court to get my money back, but their UK address seems to be a solicitor's office, likely just a dummy address.
