Gorgeous journal cover. I don’t have a sewing machine. Can you hand stitch on peltex? Thanks
@stitchesbyjulia2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cathy, No, Peltex would be too stiff to hand sew. I would suggest using a light weight interfacing or batting. Soft journal covers are wonderful too. Thanks for watching, Julia

Walmart sells awls for cheap in the sewing section. Stick a piece of foam board under the project and stabby stabby. If you want eyelets they make eyelet setting tools where you hammer them closed.

Hi I have never heard of Peltex so will need to check that out - thanks! Is a free-motion sewing machine different to a regular machine or is it just a different foot? I would love to be able to do that kind of free stitching on mine!
@stitchesbyjulia4 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela, I am using a regular sewing machine and a free-motion quilting foot or darning foot. You do have to disengage the feed dogs on your machine. This is done by lowering them with a lever or covering them with a plate. You may have to refer to your manual. It's a lot of fun! Julia

Love you your videos!!! I have a question that I hope you can answer. I love how you did this but I like to make fabric photo booked for my grandkids: well I made one: I love how you did this but mine will be much bigger and thick. I do have that stuff interfacing and need to use it as it’s expensive. Any suggestions??
@stitchesbyjulia4 жыл бұрын
Hi, You may not need to have a stiff cover for a photo book. Possible, add an iron-on interfacing to the back side of your fabrics and use a quilt batting between your cover and lining. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching, Julia
@cfulhage14 жыл бұрын
But should I punch holes in every signature!? Like page 2 and 12 on one side and 3 and 11, etc....
@cfulhage14 жыл бұрын
Or do you have a different video of a fabric book I should also watch. I’m so overwhelmed.
@cfulhage14 жыл бұрын
I was so stupid to buy a stuff interfacing. I don’t think it’s quite as stiff as yours. It was pretty expensive so I hate not to use it!? I like to “wonky” stitch like some of what you do but just tell their story from birth until 2 years old.
@cfulhage14 жыл бұрын
So sorry I’ve been messing around with the stiff interfacing and I’m thinking there’s no way it would work to have that much binding between the pages. I think I need to do separate pages. How would you suggest joining them
