Hard luck Bill, happens to the best of us. I lost a very large roach at the net a while ago, slipped the hook, looked a good bit over 2 lb. Still rankles. Also, easily my personal best trout, smashed after a ten minute scrap. We kick ourselves and move on.

Hi don't forget the shopping trolleys and bikes, both of which I have dragged out in the past! On my heavy pole rigs I often use a 10lb rig with an 8lbs hooklength and 22 to 25 solid elastic and have managed to catch some very big fish of most species. Bill
@jofish19674 жыл бұрын
Dont worry you'll get one soon i went out yesterday and tried your liquidised bread in a hard ball with bread punch on the hook and found out a good little trick size 6 bread punch with 1 maggot underneath caught on that al day long had 17lbs of silver bream skimmers roach perch and bream keep up the good work hopefully next time you will get it in and it will feel even better
@easyfishing19364 жыл бұрын
Hi well I used brown and white crumb mixed 50/50 for the solid ball of feed. It is a pain to mix but breaks down slowly. No matter how hard you squeeze liquidised bread it will break up very quickly on the bottom and disperse hence the mix of brown and white crumb mixed hard to make fish attack the bait ball. I don't use maggots on this river as the hoards of small fish just rag the bait unless I'm after small fish. Bill

I see you got a haircut Bill, where did you go? I need one badly!! Shame you lost that fish. When I use a centrepin and hook a decent fish like that I switch off the ratchet/clicker and use my thumb as a brake. If it goes tearing off I release my thumb and give the fish some line, then gently apply thumb pressure again to get it under control. Not saying your way is wrong, but that's what I always do. Tight Lines!

Easy Fishing on the other side opposite the bushes you’ll see some lillies I fished the right hand side of those just short of the middle and when the rowers were persistent I had been loose feeding by the lillies and catching those lovely Roach right under my rod tip👍🏻 I’m after the Tincas myself but no luck as of yet, if I see you down there a’ll pick your brains about the Doctor fish 😃

Hello, I cannot see why you called this another wasted chance, for two reasons, A. you taught me and a few others how to be cool in adversity. B. you surmised the problem and dealt with it. I hooked into a larger carp, in my local fishery the other day. I was using my Multitech 600, a newish and lubricated Slik 14 elastic, fresh Diawa tied rig and after a good 5 mins being taken around the peg, the rig etc whizzed past my ear, the air was technicolour, all blues. The Guru 16 pellet hook had straightened slightly and the fish was gone. I let my grandkids see your “wasted chance” I would not dream of letting them see my wasted chance…. Stay Safe

@easyfishing19364 жыл бұрын
There is no drag or clutch on a centrepin reel only a ratchet and I was using my thumb and I can't play the fish by letting them run as they just charge straight into the snags Bill
@CB-xr1eg4 жыл бұрын
@@easyfishing1936 Sorry Bill but that's incorrect. Rapidex, Trudex and a few other makes of centrepin have a tension wheel which is effectively a drag. You can adjust it to how fast you want the reel to spin. I appreciate what you're saying about the snags and not letting the fish run.

I never fish for tench with any more than 4lb hook length as tying spade ends becomes a little difficult at higher line strength. Worst case for losses used to be a hook untied but I now superglue the knot. As I only fish barbless hooks for all my fishing I do loose some. That's fishing for you. Tight lines everyone.
@easyfishing19364 жыл бұрын
Hi well if I used a 4lbs line I would lose 90% of the fish I hooked! Tied properly you don't need super glue and I use a Drennan or Matchman hook tyer and they both give perfect results. For these big fish I use an eyed hook as I am usually hair rigging my bait Bill
@delwigzieful4 жыл бұрын

@petemason574 жыл бұрын
@@easyfishing1936 On the set up I use I have caught fish in excess of 10lb so why would I need heavier. Even Matt Hayes recommends superglue your knots as it prevents strangulation of the knotted line.
