I clear my filter but I keep getting getting the "clr filter" code... I just took the drain line apart to check for obstructions, and there is none... Is there a way to clear the code ? Or do I need a new pump?

Depending on the model you may be able to clear error codes in diagnostic. If you keep getting it and everything is 100 percent clear, I would replace the drain pump

I've had to do that before, though I only had to drain a little. I was always confused because it seems like you should want the filter oriented a certain way at the end but there was no easy way to control that. I was worried about it ending up upside down or wtv because my has a little cup-shaped catch shape.
