MiniQuad pilot here. So after getting my ZOHD Dart 250G ,and installing Kopilot and a receiver, I crashed and ripped the entire nose off. I repaired it, and on take-off.....it tried to bury it's head in the ground, and ripped the nose off again. (Guess it was ashamed of it's "pilot" lol.) Anywho, I found your great video, and quickly realized as I was following along with you, that I had my controls for the control surfaces all jacked up. Thanks for this. I'll try to maiden her again tomorrow, if all the bepp glue on the nose doesn't weigh her down. ;p Thanks again!

Nice fairly simple but effective video Lee. All we need now is a simple way to change muscle memory...... especially the tendency for ex-quad pilots to expect a climb solely from throttle punch. _This is often a cause of unintended landings in trees, or into the ground with subsequent instruction needed on glueing foam_ _I fly both and have had similar transition problems when swapping from one to the other even after all these years_

Wow this is amazing wish I watched it before my ar wing maiden. It was a disaster couldn’t get it to take off after the throw would just dive every time. Finally got it up in the air and flew for a bit but the whole time I was fighting it. Then it crashed into a tree. I think maybe it’s a CG issue I’m having. Was no wind but it was bobbling around every where. Also I’m fairly new at Los planes and was quite frightened by how fast it needed to to just to stay up in the air.

Hey lee, Thanks for sharing this. Can you go into trimming in a little more detail please? My main issue is when flying level the plane is flying away from you and usually at quite some speed. As a new plane pilot it’s hard to tell if it’s level n straight so any tips on that? Also when you talk about balance can you show us exactly what it should look like when correct and does it need to balance left to right as well? Great intro video
@Painless360
@Painless360 5 жыл бұрын
Get a buddy to help and they can support. In a calm day you should be able to take your hands off the plane/wing fly itself once trimmed. It’s always tempting to use too much throttle when starting so try to fly with a low cruise throttle and fly up and down the field straight and level to give you time to get it spot in. Maybe another video is needed.. ice idea..
@paulg5437
@paulg5437 5 жыл бұрын
If you're in a club or have a fixed wing buddy, it's worthwhile letting him try the wing as he can advise on trimming and probably rates and expos too (wings are often twitchy and hovering is not an option :D). If you have the same TXs you can also use a buddy box link to begin with especially for landing as reflexes can get you if you start to think too much.

Hey I just have a question I built and WingcatcherRC racing spec wing. But I’m not going to race it, it was given to me. It’s my first wing build. I have built 5 quads. Ok the question is I put the battery and the motor in the middle. But the 40amp cobra esc could not fit in the middle so it is to left I also put the VTX on the left side And an S8r to the right and servos of course left and right. The Esc the receiver and Foxeer Lollie pop weigh in at 52 grams. So o figured I would need to counter that with 52 grams for the other side I believe. And I added 9 grams to nose to get proper balance on the CG. That brought the weight up to 552 grams and the battery is 169 grams that brings the total weight to.721grams. Do you think it will fly. The battery is a 3s 2200mah with a 40 amp esc and a Cobra 2210/2200kv spec motor. Any advice would be Appreciated.

Hi Couple of questions hope you could answer 1- how do you calibrate the stabilizer on the ZOHD Orbit ? 2-Is there a trick to “increasing” the travel on the Ailerons when stick is pushed down for wing to climb as the travel is barely 4-5 mm meanwhile all other movements are okay? 3-the left Aileron touches wing when moving , is there a way to rectify it ? “Sand” contact point or “lube” it or cut with a blade etc , please advise. Thanks in advance
@Painless360

1) Power up the model and have the radio connected then hold the button until the light flashes and then leave it for a few seconds until teh light stops flashing. The stabiliser should be good from the factory. 2) Yes, increase travel in that direction on the radio, be aware that in stabilise modes the controls may not move fully. I'd try and fly it first. 3) Depends what you mean by touching - see my review of that model for my building tips.. Best of luck!

A stabilizer is useful at launch and also if you need a 'breather' from tensing up after a close call. Leaving it on all the time is boring as it's limiting your movements and makes it hard to keep it in a proscribed area. Putting it in 'Normal' or 'Semi-assist' mode gives a more realistic response. One word of caution - don't switch modes at low level as if possible as some stabilizers cause the plane to nose up or do a little flip.

Hello :) ! First of all thanks a lot for your videos ! Your tutorials are really helpfull ! I have a little issue, I'm building up a ZOHD 250 with a TBS Tango Pro 2 as a TX. I configured a "Delta" wing on the Tango. I follower your full videos for setting up iNav. But when I go to Receiver tab, throttle works great and respond. But Elevator makes moving Roll and Pitch at the same time ? I set up on iNav Channel maping as TAER because that's what I got on the Tango. I made sure to be on CRSF on iNav. I tried to play around on the Mixes page of the Tango changing 50 / -50 on the inputs nothing helped. I'm trying to figure out if it's an Inav issue or setting I'm missing out ? It is normally that one of the servos or mixes need reversing. Get both elevons moving up as you move the elevator to the bottom of the radio first by changling the polarity of the elevator portion in the mixer. Change the one that is moving by changing it from positive to negative or vice versa. Then work on the Aileron... best of luck
