I have been doing gelcoat repairs for years. What this guy says... DO IT. He is 100% spot on with the process.

JB Weld, rattle can black, gloss clear coat = best I could do, looks almost like new: $28. Would've rather done it your way though for longevity, looks like new. Excellent work, Sir!!

Great video You are a saver! I bought a brand new Kawasaki Jet Ski and chipped in the exact same size as on the video the bottom area, near the intake. 3 places quoted me from $2650 to $3000 for a chip smaller than a fingernail. Leaving your jetski somewhere else for 3-4 days is another problem because it is guaranteed that you will receive it with 5 new scratches all over. Thank you so much!

This came up in my feed at the perfect time. I just took my Sea Doo out for the first time today and found a gouge in the hull on my return. I felt sick! Watching this reassured me a great deal. Thanks.

Nice. Really informative. I have an older boat that needs a lot of this work. After watching many vids on this, yours was by far the best. Others explained the difference between jell coat and flowcoat, but didn't show application. Others showed application without the explanation. Also, I enjoyed the footage of the ride, it was beautiful. Thanks for the great vid.

Wow thanks Des! Very much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed. Well I was researching, I struggled to find a complete guide with all the information so I tried to include as much as possible. Hope it was helpful!

If you didn’t repair that, what’s the worst that can happen? Slow erosion from the water will eventually cause a hole? I get the need to officially repair it, but why can’t you just slap a piece of black duct tape over it and call it a day?

Hey, so I just fixed my jetski I just bought, the hull and nose of ski was cracked I re fiberglassed the whole jetski. Now onto sealing it an making it water proof. So do I need to just apply the gel coat without wax, sand it down with 800 wet sand paper then apply gel coat with wax (flow coat) and buff?

I cover it with a piece of nylon and tape it all over so no air is there. And stays so flat it almost no need to sand. Hard as a rock also.

Seriously this video was worth watching the 20 mints. I saw a lot of video out there but none explained what gel coat is, how it cures, why your gel coat need wax and so forth. So thanks for making this video I have more confidence in doing this now.

Am curious about how you capture the video of yourself cruising in the water? Drone? I don’t see its shadow and speed seems to be much higher. Enjoying your channel focusing on lesser known aspects of jetskiing ownership.

G'Day Hunter, I purchased all the products from my local fibreglass shop - they were really helpful! Here is what I got --> 3:30. Just be aware that some modern jet ski's have composite hulls that cannot be repaired using these materials. Check with your manufacturer / dealer if unsure.
