Thanks for this and the "mock-ups". I was disappointed that all the mock-ups featured smaller prints. It seems like this would be an opportunity to use Anna-Marie or Kaffe. It would be lovely to see a mock-up in a larger print to see what was necessary for balance in the quilt when using such large squares and using large scale prints. I appreciate all your videos so much.

Hi Kimberley and all at the FQS🙋🏼♀️ I just loved the simplicity of this pattern so I grab a layer cake that I've been debating what pattern to choose for it for the longest time and starched and made the initial cuts. When it came to sewing the first 9' strip, no problems but when I stitched the second on it seemed to always turn out too short to square it up at 11', whilst using a scant quarter inch. I unpicked it tried again, still no better. So in order to get the accuracy I cut the second strip at 11.5' and stitched it with the strip on the bottom which seems to have solved the problem. My measurements were all accurate but I think this gives a little wiggle room for squaring up. This is just my feedback not a complaint or criticism in anyway. I just thought it might help others who want to make this great pattern. Thanks so much. Happy stitching💗

If I’m using scrap 10” blocks that have been washed can u just use the blocks as is.
What a lot of mucking around for the simplest pattern. No starching needed, no trimming back needed. Moda fabrics don’t shrink when quilted and washed. Precuts are there to be ready to go.

I am a newbie at this sorta. I've made simple quilts with squares. What is a layer cake tumble?😕 I know what a jelly roll is.
@FatQuarterShopTX2 жыл бұрын
Hello Carol Sue! Quilt Layer Cakes are collections of 10" x 10" squares of quilting fabric made by Moda Fabrics. They are similar to a Charm Pack but a larger size. Layer Cake fabric is available by collection and typically includes 42 pieces of quilt fabric, though the number may vary.Layer Cale Tumble is the name of the pattern demonstrated in this video.
