One of my primary lakes up here in the Pacific Northwest is a shallow, muddy, former-logging-pond type lake that rarely sees water temps below 35F. It gets a lot of pressure, but has some GIANT fish in it as well. Your description of shallow and muddy bodies of water are spot on in my opinion... mine has sage brush and lily pads though instead of cypress trees. I think shallow bodies of water are more unique than most because of the fact that the water temp can change so rapidly in certain conditions. Even though it's the only thing these fish have ever known, it does something to their behavior when those rapid temp changes take place. Great presentation by the way... big thumbs up!

Best informative videos I have ever watched. I am from west Michigan, and have progressed similarly to you, in that, off shore deep fishing fascinates me! One thing I have heard, that you comment regularly, natural lakes are some what featureless, in comparison to reservoirs. I have found, when you buy a conour map book, on smaller natural lakes, often times they do not show all the fearures of the lake. I have found several offshore humps, high spots, and depressions that hold big, untouched winter/summer bass by simply graphing areas in that 20-30' range, that the contour map shows as flat. Its currently -4 degrees here at home, and though I have been ice fishing, thanks to your videos, I have alot to look forward to this upcoming open water season!!!!!

Very thorough , well thought out and presented. A lot of high quality production for a “freebie” on-line video. Thanks for your effort. I live on lake Harris in FL. It can be a daunting lake to fish if you don’t find (or know to look for) those very subtle depth changes on the shell beds, grass flats etc. Thanks for your work. It’s really appreciated.

Thanks Man, I really appreciate your videos they are great. It's obvious you spend a lot of time with detailed information. I live on Wright Patman Lake in North East Texas and I would love to see you do a topo video on this lake. The lake is on the Sulfur River so it is at best murky water but muddy when the lake is high or rising. It's not known to be a BIG bass lake but I know there are big bass here. I would really like to hear your opinion on where to fish this lake and how to fish this lake. By the way, the pro's are afraid of this lake LOL. Thanks

Great info but my experience here in Illinois bass move into shollows right at ice out and only extreme cold fronts push them out of the shollows. I have caught 20+ bass in a hour in less the 3 feet of water with temps in the high 30s low 40s.

I liked the video, but you only covered lakes in the south throwing lipless crankbaits and jerkbaits. I live in SE WI and can tell you that just after ice out that the fish won't be doing very much chasing of anything. While I believe they'll be in the areas you indicated; I also believe they'll be wanting much slower and smaller presentations like a senko, 3" ned rig, 2.75" tube jig, or pit boss.
