Hello, Scott. Just wanted to take a moment and thank you. I'm 53 yo and had always wanted to play, guitar. It was my love for Johnny Cash and his music which created the desire. I grew up watching him on TV, becoming a fan ever since. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have found your videos. In the last year I have learned so much from them. Though I'll never be 'a Johnny', I play well enough to entertain family and friends. Complete with walkups/downs, pickin' and strumin' style, I've learned from you. That, and I practiced until I needn't look. The guitar and music, became an extension of 'self'. If I'm stressed and pick up my guitar, within moments, it all disappears. It's just the guitar, the music and me. It all seems so natural now. Thank you, most sincerely, for taking the time to produce and publish your videos. -To those who feel, as I once felt: It's never too late! Just click, "Play." :)

People, I have 5 of his guitar lessons and am very impressed with them, They are the best lessons I have tried, very cohesive and easy to follow. I was so impressed that I just that I just now ordered all of his song lessons for the incredable price of $24.95. Scott has great lesson deals that anyone can afford. Try them you can't go wrong.

Thank you Scott! This is your third video that's helped me & mine. I'm a geezer (67) trying to relearn guitar, & I also sent one of your video links to my wife's niece... I think she's about 10 or 11. With your help I hope to get back to where I was (guitar-wise) when I was 17 (despite my "dysfunctional" hands), and I hope to encourage our niece to stick with guitar instead of dumping it for soccer. By the way, there were a few times in this video that I could have sworn I was listening to Johnny's voice & fingers! You're appreciated through a (more than) 5-decade span, so please hang in there!

Many thanks my friend! I'm glad to be helping a couple of members of the family. There was nobody like Cash for sure. I'm not surprised that he still get new fans from the young people these days. His music will continue to inspire fans of PURE music, smply because it is an art that goes beyond genre and time. Play well my friends! Scott

@elchopo72 No problem my friend. In the chorus after the chromatic walk up, your picking pattern will be just like the stand up bass that was used on it, it made the boom-chicka-boom rhythm that were on most of John's songs. So, you duplicate that. So, hit the root note only down, (BOOM) then the down stroke on the whole chord and up stroke on the whole chord (CHICKA-BOOM) So....down (root note), down-up........Down, Down-up. And that is it. Sounds like a horse galloping if you mute strings

~ I learn something new from you every time I watch one of your videos, Scott. I am a relatively new player with a 1978 Ovation 1612-4 (just like yours, but with the silver label) and this was a fun one to match instruments with you (the master!) and begin to learn on. Thanks for the great work you do!

Thanks my friend! I'm glad you keep coming back. Yeah, these OLD Ovations have a little something special that the new ones don't have. I just heard that Fender bought Ovation out. I haven't confirmed it yet though.

@omares87 I hear you! Ace Frehley is like a lot of guitarists out there, not the best player in the world, but a MAJOR INFLUENCE. He got myself, you and so many others seeing stars and wanting to grab up a Les Paul and a wall of Marshalls and start wailing. There are tons of great guitarists out there, but very few MAJOR INFLUENCES. They are very different things. To make a couple generations of people want to learn to play guitar takes a special kind of person. Gotta love Space Ace!

hi scott, thks very much for this great interpretation video! i just have a doubt on how to play the chorus after the cromatic walk on the first D, C, G, D sequence. is that strumming up an down? could you tell please tell me how to play this. thks a lot. you made me get into country music, i'm more of a flamenco player you know but music is universal as you know! keep up the tunes maestro!

@theguitarman53 Thank you my friend. I actually did win one of the Ovation guitars and I gave it away in a drawing for all of the people who voted for me. I have plenty of guitars and I wanted someone else that possibly couldn't afford a good guitar to have one just in time for Christmas. It was far more fun to give it away than it was to win it! Thanks again.
