You can also say a positive affirmation when you catch yourself like, "I choose to focus on my happiness and reasons I have to be grateful."

I’m ruminating over ruminating? How do I get over this? I can’t be fully present or distract myself. I don’t even know what I’m ruminating over.

For me, it's not the case that I keep ruminating even after I've fixed the problem. Unfortunately the only thing I have found that eliminates the anxiety and the ruminating, is fixing the problem!

Anxiety is caused by a root cause experience or belief. Anxiety is the outcome/ consequence of an inner belief. Find out what the root cause is is the first step of dealing with Anxiety. Overthinking a situation can also cause anxiety. There are ways to deal with anxiety by breathing etc but remember anxiety is a symptom of an inner thought pattern linked to a false self image or belief of oneself (generally) we subconsciously hold. Rumination happens when those subconscious beliefs are coming into our consciousness and are calling for us to look deeper introspectively . The rumination is a hint toward what is to be dealt with...

I'm going through an extremely messy divorce and I find myself ruminating sometimes. My soon to be ex wife has destroyed my life in every way possible and she is continuing to do so while this divorce is in progress. I have good days and I have bad days, but I am looking forward to what the future brings.

I think it’s a great video. The only thing I disagree about is when you said “you are not your thoughts”, and SO MANY people say this. I do agree we’re not “only” our thoughts but any thought is part of us. Although that minor ocd thought is such a small part of who we are that’s it is almost as if it’s not us. And yes, part of your mind can observe how another part of our mind is sabotaging us. Don’t mean to be critical I just want all of us to get better from ocd. ❤

THIS IS TERRIBLE ADVICE. This is ignoring the cigarette. You have to go through the storm and retrain your BODY's response. Yes there is the front cortex and amygdala but you have retrain your body to feel safe and recognize its response first

@@ujjwaladiya2471 with time patience and practice. Remember the first time you held a firework wand, or a knife to cut, or went up the escalator? Drove? Went inside a target? Time and practice. It develops confidence and then the next time it isnt so scary and you can take 2 steps. Soon you are on the escalator not even thinking about how scary it was.
