I get such a kick out of watching the two of you in the kitchen or the garden. I taught myself to can when I was 25 with two little ones and a giant garden that my husband put in every year in Washington State. I loved my outdoor, above ground root cellar building that held the hundreds of canned products I put up every year. Sadly, my marriage ended after 20 years but my love of canning still exists at the age of 73. I still find things to put up all year long even on the Mojave Desert of California. Keep loving each other and enjoying your homestead for the rest of your lives. Hugs to the both of you.

Hi guys, Your soup looks delicious! Hère in the south of France we eat a similar soup called a Soupe au pistou. When you take your soup out of the can add small cooked pasta with a good dollop of pesto sauce, its to die for. Happy soupe au pistou my friends. xx

Jen, just a heads up, the NCHFP has changed the standard regarding sterilizing jars and lids. If you are processing for more than 10 minutes then all you have to do is clean them, not sterilize them. Saves a ton of time and effort. Also, the new Ball lids do not require warming up. Just clean them and use them, no soaking in warm water anymore.
@teresaday-fickel58765 жыл бұрын
I should have said 10 minutes or more.

Get yourself one of those 3 piece pressure regulators from Amazon and you won’t have to worry about watching that gauge all the time. It has weight for 5 lbs, 10 lbs, and 15 lbs. You will wonder why you didn’t get it earlier.

Oh lord that looks so good, love ham and beans, but what a great idea canning them. Sure wish i some tonight. Love watching you guys. You have a cute little helper. Wanted to tell you i love the video you made not to long ago talking about your kids when they get older hoping they believe how you raise them, something like that and at the end of the video when they were sleeping they were holding hands. I thought that video was so touching that I cried. I think you and your husband are doing a great job and keep God in your family and always love each other. God will work things out. I have 3 children home school my oldest the last couple of years until he graduated. He was like his dad love construction 🔨 working with his hands. He didn’t care much for school. My other some I did better in school and played the Saxophone 🎷 and did some preaching. My daughter is great has 4 kids and holds a good job. All our children have good job. I have 9 grandchildren now. My son that preaching some and working in the church he goes to now. They home school their children and are so smart. But so are my other grandchildren that go to regular school. I sent my children to Christina school. Just keep doing what your doing now. Great job !

I am new to canning, canned some veg, carrots, celery, green beans, and mushrooms. I canned mixed veg, and carrots, celery, green beans in their own jars seperately, mushy in 1/2 pint jars, and some mushroom broth, they turned out good. But the timing is the hardest as I know the times, but trying to hold it at 11 psi for my area, I was over on 12 psi, but I know it will get better as I do each batch. I am wanting to can some bean soups too, as I usually make it in my IP and have some left overs, so I'll have to can them. Thanks for the video, and for sharing, nicely done.

if you add a teaspoon of baking soda during the 1st boil, it will remove the gas too. But make sure you rinse your beans after they sit for that hour. Then cook it just like Jenn did to eat that night. Or to can to add to your pantry.

Hey, just a quick question: The USDA/food preservation center rules say that you put no more than one half of solids in the jar, and the rest is the liquid. I know you said you do 2/3, but you put solids nearly all the way up to the top of the headspace and added a little broth. Is this okay to do? I have canned this soup, and it is delicious, but I only filled up half of the jar with the solids. Thanks! PS My recipe from a popular YT canner, calls for a little bit of instant mashed potato flakes in the jar to make a thick ham and bean soup. It is SO delicious!!! (You definitely need the 1/2 jar of broth, though.) :)
