Could error 6 be rated to clock capacitor? I just got this xbox from goodwill, rev 1.3, checked it out i side before powering on. Removed clock capacitor. All else looked ok. Put it back together. Xbox powers on as soon as I connect the power cable and it gives error 06. It didn’t look tampered with.

I had my xbox original repaired years ago but it won't open, i found out that the hdd was replaced with a new one and needs to be unlocked. I don't have my old hdd and also dont have a password to my new one since my dad was the one that took it to a repair shop. Do you know any solution that might help ? I wanna play my xbox badly and i spent most of my childhood playing on it.

Try to load a game in the system and see if it boots. If not may have to mod chip it.

Got my xbox soft modded a few years ago from a shop and it had thousands of retro games emulating on it. Woke up one day and boom FRAG and error 7. I'm not remotely tech minded but is there anything i can do to get it working again?

Likely not. Error 7 is hard drive issue. Hopefully it's a loose ide cable. If not hard drive may be dead. You could try to copy hard drive to new hard drive if you zeroed the keys on your xbox

​@FoxFishing4K genuinely no idea what zeroed the keys means lol all I did was buy it ready to go and used it till it died. I replaced the ide cable but still no joy and I don't even own a PC or Laptop to attempt to copy the hard drive 😢

Is there any way to retrieve data (game saves) from a hard drive? Like convert it to another one or somehow hook it up to a computer? My Xbox isn’t modded it’s stock but stopped working. I have other consoles that work but want to retrieve my game saves & as I’m sure u know u can’t just plug 1 hard drive into another system, it doesn’t read it without the code

What does it say without the game? Best bet would be just chip the system with that many errors

That error is the soft mod files are screwed, u need to replace c and e folders, only thing the hard drive is locked so u will have to hotswap

So if I take a hard drive from one Xbox that’s been locked to it’s EPROM from its motherboard, and slave it to another Xbox with a totally different EPROM and use chimp I can unlock that drive? And even if I could, the slave drive would now have the HDD key of the Xbox that was used to fix it with chimp? How would I make that drive work with its original Xbox system? My problem is I’m getting error 13 and 14 and it’s not booting from any bootable recovery disc such as slayer or truHexn… from what I’ve learned I need to get a custom-made device to read the EPROM on the motherboard to obtain the original hard drives key I’m trying to recover the hard drive for. Is there no way around this? Thanks for any info.

That means dash board issue. Try loading a newer original Xbox game in the system it may fix. You can also chip the system. Start with the newer Xbox game to see if it repairs dash

I have no idea whats going on! I just turned my xbox on after some months and now the F and G drives are 0 and it wont boot into the softmod dashboard. It goes to MS dashboard and thats it.... Anybody else hvae seen this before?

That's not good. Maybe your hard drive died. When it flashes that's called frag. Flashing red and green.

I adjusted the VR on my GameCube once but that’s bc KZbin showed me how hahah. Other than that, I’m not well versed in electronics

I softmodded my xbox and was working fine then it froze and when i reset the console it now has erro 7 messege which is an hdd problem. I need to either fix my hdd or create a new one. I need a a solution that doesn't require my xbox because i can't boot into it because my softmodded xbox i only have one hdd and it is the hard-drive that has error. Your solution is to have a working softmodded xbox to fix a bad drive but u can't get into my softmodded xbox until I fix the drive

If the power button works to turn. It on and it shuts off by itself it's probably caps. If it powers on soon as you plug it in it will be trace dmg

Nothing is bulging and there is no internal damage i checked everything and it was clean so idk why it’s doing this, maybe it’s the power supply?

You can softmod another xbox. Then null the hard drive key to all 0s. Use John Conns softmod. After the key is nulled it can be placed into anyother xbox with nulled keys. Every xbox is paired with a serial number to the motherboard. Keys have to be nulled before you can switch hard drives. Also if your xbox is turning on with the reset button that is almost always indictive of Trace damage unless it is chipped. If it has a mod chip thats a different story
