For those that don't have the option of connecting an ethernet cable to your router; You can use a crossover cable, and connect it directly from your computer to the xbox. This will allow communication between the devices. It HAS to be a crossover cable though. A regular ethernet cable will not work. Note - Using a crossover cable, will also require you to set a static IP address on the xbox, which you can do through the settings.

thought i'd chime in here, and say that you actually can use a standard ethernet cable. but, you will have to fiddle around in your network settings, and it only works on windows as far as i'm aware. if anyone wants a guide, let me know

@AdioAurel I'm sure there is, but I've never done that, nor do I know how it's done. There's an xbox controller port to female usb adapter that is used during the modding process, and I would think you could use one to pull saved game files off the xbox and onto a usb stick. Alternatively, you could ftp into your xbox from a PC and try to grab the saved files that way.

@@HeyThatsKey not the same at all, isos transfer much faster than millions of individual files, i did a speed test and isos transfer twice as fast if you're doing a library of games, also isos take up less space, as individual files always take up extra space due to cluster size of 32kb / 64kb

This video is excellent, thank you for uploading it. I have a different softmod, and I was having issues moving games from my PC to the Xbox where the transfer would timeout repeatedly. I fixed this issue by changing the number of simultaneous transfers from 4 to 1. Hope this info will help someone out in the future. Again, thanks for the video :).

I bought a cheap old home server, for £20 upgraded the old hdd to 2x 4tb hdds and i placed all my xbox, os2 and ps3 games on to them, and now run all my games off there thrugh my network. No need t copy anything across its all done in the fly. This video is great though. This is exactly how i was doing it for 15+ tea6rs before i buikt my server network.

@@sushicat8522 You can install smaller games in the original Xbox HDD (8 or 10GB) but it's pretty limited. After jailbreaking my Xbox I put a 500GB HDD on it and it's working great!

Blaine I hope you see this. I have to extend my thanks. When I started the mod process often I was set back by gatekeepers who seemed disinterested in helping noobs get into the community. Today I was very close to calling it quits with getting a copy of a disc I have onto my hard drive (purchased from gamestop poor conditon) and I made the mistake of attempting to download disc images and put them onto my system. I was wondering why it was such a drawn out process. Anyways after trolling many forums and looking up suggestions in google I was at a loss. Fortunately I found your vid and have the will to keep going. Ill update tomorrow in this comment and give you a sub. You get a like for posting this though. Same here, when i ping the xbox its a timeout, also my router doesnt detect the xbox. The little LEDs at the lan port of the xbox are lighting up tho...

@@sushicat8522 You gotta clear some room, but once you do, it should have about 4 gigs free on the stock hard drive. I had to go back and delete a bunch of saves for certain games like Kotor, as they took up a lot of space.

TIP: Check your IP in your OG Xbox Ftp settings, it changes from time to time. Also, when transferring files, make sure you take them out of archives. Helps with transfer.

I need this really bad. Why? I got an original copies of Halo and Fable and other couples games. Yes I bought it used without any warranty. But the game stuck mid game every single time I played at the same exact place. Disc is heavily scratched. That also happen to all my other games. If you have a third party controller it won't work you need to have an original Microsoft controller for some reason some functions won't work with a third-party controller Xbox can be picky sometimes.
