I must say, I’ve been watching numerous videos on how to do pine trees and your video is well explained!!! Thank you for the thorough explanation and step by step, it has been a pleasure to watch. And especially since you are painting on paper. Paper is the only thing I paint on. I’m glad I found your video. 😊❤️

Thank you for all the great tips on painting pine trees. I live in Ga now and have lots of pine trees in my 1 acre lot, I have some leaning trees and some that do stand like soldiers. Most of the pine trees or ever greens here in Ga do show the trunk, so I guess it depends on the type. It could also be that Ga is very humid and lots of moss and green mold grow on trees and drop branches and pine needles in the fall and winter. Thank you again, I will try your technique since I’m trying to get into painting. I love drawing by nature but haven’t taken a class since HS years ago! ;)

@donnahodge49263 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure these are spruce or pine trees. If you walk in the woods & see these trees the limbs are pointing up NOT down. I live in Quebec where we have spruce trees, these are neither spruce or pine. But since everyone seems to do them the same I will try to follow.

I want to make a couple points. 1- When painting, you should use a 3 shade method at all time. You start with your medium hue, then add the dark hue, followed with the lights and whites. This order is the " Rule of Values." Never break the rules. 2- Pine Trees never grow crooked/angled., unless it is the species called crooked pine. Then it is only the lower trunk that bends, but the tops always grow straight up. Your crooked tree makes no sense. Laws of nature. Sorry
@lynnquin85655 жыл бұрын
I googled and looked at various photographs of stands of pine trees. I found several that included pines that were 'leaning' and not straight up. The laws of nature dictate that there are valid reasons for this, such as heavily saturated soil and strong winds. As far as the rule of values, I would imagine this is up to the individual artists. I've watched many art tutorials that have the darker value laid down first, followed by the medium, and lastly, the highlights. Since I've been painting I've found that one needn't follow strict rules and be trapped in the confines of 'should' and 'always'. Whatever works for you is fine but that doesn't mean your method is the one and only correct one.
@justleslieslots5 жыл бұрын
@@lynnquin8565 I totally agree with you! Everyone has a unique style how boring would it be if everyone painted by strict rules!

Some people should just get on with the tutorial and just shut up before they make total fools of themselves. I turned the sound off after she said that one fan brush was "more natural " the other "more bristly bristle, like hog's hair" > Doesn't she know hogs (or pigs) are animals and have "natural" hair, called bristles? Give me a break.
