Nice demonstration man❤ quick question ,I want to make a school project similarly like this but a little twist and it is that, I want to connect the copper tap with a press button which is connected to 3 LED lights one upon another... and I NEED YOUR HELP ! What should I do that only the first light will glow if less pressure was exerted on pressure button and the top light will glow if more pressure was exerted on the pressure button ? U understand my question ,it's like those gaming hamer strength testing machine in the more you beat that machine, the led lights glow on the top

butting velostat in-between the on/off switch makes it a pressure button but it will only dim the LED(s) connected to it. I do not see a simple way of achieving what you want to do since you bascially want to switch between three circuits using the same button (with different pressure). You can achieve it with a microcontroller an some simple programming (e.g. an Arduino).

Thanks so much for this video and project! Is the purpose of the resistor on the red leg just to get the right color mixing or is there another purpose? My students liked the red color best without the resistor but I didn't know if there was a safety reason for adding it.
@VoltPaperScissors3 жыл бұрын
In theory red LEDs only need about 2 Volts while the coin cell has 3 Volts. The resistor reduces the voltage at the LED. Not using the resistor makes the LED brighter (that's probably what the students liked) but it might damage the LED. So from a learning perspective I would always add the resistor. In case the resistor is left out, the worst thing happening would be a damaged LED but nothing serious. Most likely, nothing will happen except of the color mixing not working and the LED getting slightly warm.

Can still work if you use conductive glue or conductive ink?
@VoltPaperScissors2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It can work but conductive ink and glue might break when folding it. Conductive tape is way better!

The resistor is needed to make the color mixing work. That is because red LEDs do need less voltage than green and blue. A resistor reduces the voltage for the red component so that all three (red, green, blue) have the same brightness. Without the resistor red would be a dominant color when mixing different colors.

true, I did change that. This project became more than a hobby for me. I started making workshop materials for my projects, including more detailed videos and more. All is included in my new downloads and I decided to charge a small fee for it.
