Now take a cheap serrated steak knife blade... bend it to a 90 degree angle and bolt it down low by the prop and you've got a weed cutter too.

On a fast trick for now (I will review after a few beers). Keep the eye bolts (or watever will be more efficient ((this will evolve overtime from other peoples ideas and inputs)), and figure a proper rig to utilize eye bolts to a separate shaft for individual rudder control from the troller. Would make a more efficient path direction from heavier currents or winds knocking you off track. Now on separate rudder id try to keep it like a knob based or handle twist and turn directly off from main rod that flows through the eye holes.

I made this exactly the same. i have a minnkota 55lb endura max, and the 1" clamps are too big, my rudder spins and ive tightened this up as much as i can. daaaamnit! lol
@TheFishingFather
@TheFishingFather 4 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. Can you place something within the clamp to create a tighter clamp? For example, maybe cut a wood shim to wedge in between the motor and the clamp to create more resistance. Or even a small piece of rag
@codyhutchison7330

The Fishing Father might have to give it a shot. Yeah he as very taken off guard that it was able to spin freely on the shaft when it’s suppose to be a 1 1/8” shaft and a 1” clamp as tight as I can get it

@@codyhutchison7330 Man, I am trying to think here. I think this is a better idea. Wrap some electrical tape or Teflon tape where the clamp will go. This will increase the diameter of the are that needs to be clamped and ensure a tighter fit. Let me know

Couldn't u make the board higher so it clears the prop so that you can make the plate longer or is the way it is better?
@TheFishingFather

Good question. I was of the mindset that the closer to the prop the better

Is the "fin" below the Minn Kota motor supposed to act as a min-rudder? If so, it does seem logical that adding a rudder with more surface area would make sense; also, are you using stainless steel hardware?
@TheFishingFather
@TheFishingFather 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. In my head that is what I was thinking as well. Stainless steel has been swapped out! Oops! Thanks for the heads up

I have a inflatable pontoon. I have the trolling motor mounted up front. The steering goes everywhere, I have no control going forward. Backward I can steer good. Maybe this bullnose will help?

Why did you use eye bolts instead of something more low profile? Eyes will catch weeds.
