It isn't necessarily a bad idea. I've personally never done it. My concern would be the top insole sliding around. I would also say that if you're able to wear two insoles in your boots, they're likely too big in the first place.

Basically the colors. It's just to make your boots a little more unique. There's no performance gains or losses to be had from changing the laces to a different pair. The quality is as good if not better than the laces on any top-end boots available right now.

You'd rip through the upper over time because the lace holes wouldn't be reinforced by anything. Despite how it might look on a lot of boot with a one-piece upper, the lace holes are always reinforced internally so they don't stretch or rip through the upper.
