After watching your video several times, I now have a really nice left side lapped zipper in my new corduroy trousers. Thank you so much for this clear, step-by-step video. Using the scotch tape as a guide was a great tip - made it so easy. 😀

Many years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I was in a Home Ec class and learned how to do a lapped zipper. Somewhere along the way I got lazy and decided to just slap the zipper on my seam allowance and make it a double lapped. Sometimes with okay results, and sometimes with less than. But I’ve always loved the look of a lapped zipper. Thank you for refreshing me so I can try this again. You’ve added some great tips, especially the scotch tape!

Another great tutorial. I am making a dress and the instructions are for a lap zip down the back. I actually prefer the looks of a lap vs regular zip. But is it odd to have a lap zip down the back? Your instructions are completely different from the pattern. I came to YT for help and when I saw your name, I knew this was the one to watch. Thank you.

Thanks so much... Zippers were so scary for me when I first started sewing... It took a while for me to fine-tune the process to make them easier for me to do... So, now I can share!!

This is a great video as always. Is there any chance you could do a video on how to take in pants that have an inseam pocket? Thanks.

Thanks for the tutorial, but how do you finish off the top with a facing?
@JSternDesigns2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure! To finish with waistline with a facing... turn the ends of the facing to the wrong side and press them before sewing the waistline edge of the facing to the waistline of the pants. After understitching the facing, turn it to the inside. Hand stitch the ends of the facing to the zipper tape. If the folded ends are interfering with the zipper teeth, fold a little more of the end under. Hope that helps & thanks for sewing along with me
