We all probably have that traditional holiday meal we plan and look forward to, but what about all the other meals we need to feed our families? 'Tis the season for lots of things, including company and holiday gatherings! I recently spent the Thanksgiving holiday with my family and 15 other adults and kids, so I thought I'd share what I whipped up for dinner to feed a crowd!

This was special, why you ask, I went to the store yesterday and got bow tie pasta and chicken and parmesan cheese to make this for dinner. I tune in to your video and what are you making, this very thing. I've never made garlic toast from hamburger or hotdog buns, but I will be doing it next time I have them. Will be waiting to see what you do for Christmas food, I hope anyway.

Hot dog buns for garlic toast has been my choice for years. They are cheap and there is no slicing involved. They are much easier for kids to handle and they like them. The traditional french bread can have a hard crust and tougher for little kids to chew. Good video and I liked how you prepared everything!

While I’m not going to plan any big dinners this holiday season, in case my adult kiddos talk me into it, I think I’m going to make a pot of chili and potato soup. That’s pretty simple and not too expensive. Maybe some cornbread and/or crackers. Actually, I like Fritos with my chili. And bread and butter pickles! Great video! I used to spend a fortune preparing a traditional holiday meal and I would be so exhausted and busy and not able to enjoy my company. No more.

Love this so much! I absolutely need to try the chicken recipe. I always DIY my white sauce as well - I don’t care for the jar stuff and I got tired of buying jars to try and finding out I didn’t like them. I cracked up at the sauce hog thing - we truly do all have one of those in our family and they’re the same person who will conveniently leave only a smidge of gravy (for biscuits and gravy) after they dip theirs haha.

I gave up trying to find a jarred white sauce I liked the first time I got one and it smelled like furniture polish and tasted like dish soap. I decided right then I was not wasting any more money trying the stuff when I could make it just as easily as I opened the jar even if it took me a few extra minutes.

I know you mentioned the slow cooker but in our house we arr big fans of "plain chicken's" one pot chicken alfredo. We stray from the recipe a little (mostly because we never add the chicken till the very end) but its pretty similar to a slow cooker meal, and I often make it on "oven mode" in my ninja muti/slow cooker.

I never thought of using the rind of the parmesan like that. 🤦🏼‍♀️. Been wasting food! I have always used buns for garlic toast too, because I only use 3 for my family meals. If I don't do that, I put them in the food processor with some Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Spread them out on a baking sheet and put in a 200 degree oven until they're dry. I haven't bought bread crumbs in over 15 years.

Love your channels! Just found you and I feel like we are so similar! Loved the recent diet vlog as well. Currently pregnant with my second and trying to stay focused on the future vs getting overwhelmed with what I “can’t do” right now. Also trying to focus on our spending/eating habits this year, so your meal planning videos are super helpful! I hate cooking, but it’s now a necessity if we want to make our financial goals a reality 🤍🙏🏼

I get so much joy out of watching your videos. I even get ideas on some recipes although I scale some of them back considerably because I live alone (and I hate to cook). It’s just not worth it and it’s certainly not something I feel like doing every day. I like your recipes because often it’s something I can make something on the weekend and then have it done and in the fridge for the week. Oh and someone who grew up with the “nasty chocolates” in the advent calendars? That is my kind of advent calendar!!! Editing to add - Sauce hog??? Have you secretly been taping me in my apartment when I cook pasta? Oh wait I live alone it’s OK I can be the sauce hog!!! I really got to start watching the whole video before I comment LOL

I don’t have a sauce hog in my family, however I have a person who takes all the meat balls and leaves the sauce, or strains out the broth for soup and only eats the chunks 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ It gets kind of annoying when I’m the last one to eat and I got to get soup and get broth with like one carrot floating in it. Plain sauce on past is still acceptable. 😂
