EASY Minn Kota Transducer CABLE INSTALL!!!

Using a ROD SOCK to support the TRANSDUCER cable on a Minn Kota Terrova or other sliding shaft trolling motor is EASY!! If you're like me and bought a trolling motor without thinking about how to install an external transducer cable here's an easy fix using a common fishing pole rod sock and a couple of ty rap's. In this video we install a Garmin ECHOMAP 93SV UHD transducer on a Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor.

I decided to go with 1/4 inch recoil air hose (black of course) . Zip tie hose over cable protector molded by transducer. Put about 5 to 6 coils of split (cut inner coil side) around shaft. At the pivot point, put 1 zip tie around silver bar and the 2nd one through that zip tie for a 180 degree off set for zip tie around air hose with cable inside. Make a slight loop bend and cross zip tie around top collar of pivot point where shaft slides up and down. The rest is easy and there's no way the cable dangles, snags on lift assist, has enough coil to spin 3 times each direction, coil scrunched up on shaft easy and stows with no problems.

Yup….that’s how I’m going mine as well speak. I’m using clear hose, because it’s the only color I can find that’s already cut down the middle to allow the cable to clip into. But ,it’s a much cleaner look, and it should be resist weeds/grass much better.

I don’t see why not as long as it mounts above the motor. There’s a separate plug in on the chartplotter for both. Have a great day

So the Ferrite clamp device goes on the transducer cable and not the power cable?

i dont understand the purpose of having a transducer on the trolling motor. Both the driver unit & front unit can use the same transducer mounted on the back. Is there any particular reason for using 2 different transducers?

I fish normally in no more than 30’ so the cone isn’t covering a large area. I like seeing what is directly under me not behind me. Sometimes I’ll run the traditional on the front and clear vu off the transom with a combo screen on the bow. Really depends on how you fish, in my opinion it helps when jigging. Hi Ricky, IF they are put on too tight it can damage the shielding around the internal wires. Also people will kink the cable again damaging the cable

Hi Rick, quick question...I plan to mount my transducer on a transom mount trolling motor. This means that unlike most bow mount set ups, the head of the motor is not being retracted as you pull the cord to place the trolling motor on the bow of your boat. So...the transducer cable would not be squished together. In that arrangement, do you think I would still need the sock?
