FILM DESCRIPTION:
Degenerate Monty Capuletti (Rodney Dangerfield) is perfectly content spending his life drinking, smoking and gambling with his other layabout buddies. His wealthy mother-in-law, Mrs. Monahan (Geraldine Fitzgerald), has long disapproved of Monty's irresponsible behavior, but when she dies she leaves him $10 million in her will. However, predictably, there is a catch: Monty has to change his life and live vice-free for one year in order to collect the money.

This is was filmed at Pompano Race Track in Pompano, Florida. Still open for business, it is the only place in South Florida, perhaps the State of Florida, that holds harness racing during the professional season. The younger man wearing glasses trying to place a bet behind Joe and Rodney is John Berry, a great man who still works at the establishment and has done so all these years!

@@itsabeautclark9960 I know, unfortunately. My father owned horses throughout the years and we were/are family friends with a lot of the people who raced and were involved too. Spent many great years there. We actually had a horse racing on closing day a few weeks ago. Terrible shame and closing night was very upsetting as you can imagine. I hope at the least that this sport is maintained elsewhere in the State, there is plenty of opportunity to keep it going, just depends on who is still dedicated.

@@bearcookie13 you’re preaching to the choir for sure. It hadn’t been what it once was the last few years which started the decline. They closed the grandstand permanently years ago and gradually fenced off the area. They even switched the winners circle to be closer to the casino. I’m sad that it is gone but I am glad the experience was there while it lasted. I just wish more people would have rallied behind it and tried harder to keep it going.
