Am really enjoying knitting this blanket. Perfect pattern for a first try. And your instructions are so easy to follow. But I do have a question. We add 1 stitch per row until we have 207 stitches. If we take 2 stitches off per row, won’t we have half as many rows in the second half of the blanket?

Hello! Do you have a video on how to change yarn color with this pattern? I have almost run out of yarn while making this piece and would love to change colors!
@tracymackay44682 жыл бұрын
I’m I’m an extreme newbie to knitting! Love the videos. I’m almost to 207 stitches and wondering why when we knit first 1/2 we increased the stitches by 1 with the decorative stitch but when decreasing we decrease 2 stitches each time?
@SweetSouthernArtbyMJ Жыл бұрын
Good question! As you start the decrease if you only decrease by 1 and yarn over by 1 you are not adding or taking away so the blanket will stay the same width...ask me how I know...I had not made this blanket for a while and when I went back to it and got to the decrease I forgot the 2nd decrease and couldn't understand why it wasn't getting any smaller...had to rip back about 3 inches of work when I figured it out!

Hi Thanks so much for this, as a beginner I love my blanket, your instructions were so easy to follow. I’m now keen to make a smaller one in another colour. Do I just half the number of stitches then start to decrease?
@Coreyj062 жыл бұрын
She hasn’t commented so I figured I’d drop my thoughts… that is a good idea going in but also mesure it when it gets to half the stitches. Make sure it’s the size you want.
@xxjenshotxx2 жыл бұрын
Quite late to the party here, but in the first video the instructions were to knit to whatever size you like (measuring from corner to needle) as long as you end on an odd number of stitches.
@rain3743 Жыл бұрын
Can you explain why we need an odd number? I am totally new to this and myh yarn is bulkier, so it built up fast and I don't need as many. But why an add number?
@sharibernstein846 Жыл бұрын
can I make it smaller than ending after 207 stitches on the needle or will that change the blanket?

Should not be a problem just end on an odd number and start decreasing and you should be fine!

Thank you so much for this video, so clear and informative. I want to make tiny blankets for our micro preemie babies. They need to be 21-25 inches square. What size is the blanket in your video? Would you be able to tell me how many stitches I need to make one this small? Thank you so very much!
@SweetSouthernArtbyMJ2 жыл бұрын
That is so beautiful!! The finished blanket is approx 30” square…so I’m not sure the exact number of stitches you would need but when the piece measures 21-25 inches just begin your decrease at that point…you are working on a diagonal so across the center is where the decrease begins and is the total size. Hope that helps!

I'm a fairly experienced knitter but I am having a hard time fully understanding your directions. It seems you are saying one thing and yet doing something different. I get rows 1 and 2, but you lose me on row 3. Are you simply knitting to the end of the row? If so, how are you showing another loophole at the end of the row in the next section. Does that not require a 2nd yarn over near the end of the row?
@SweetSouthernArtbyMJ6 ай бұрын
It is confusing but yes I’m knitting to the end…the loop is formed from the row before yo. So only yarn over at the beginning of the row
