Easy performance modifications for your 4X4 / EVC / Manta / 1kd Exhaust / 4x4 & touring / Prado 150

Decided to Run a few tests on some modifications you can do to get more performance out of your vehicle without compromising reliability. Percy the Prado has done 215,000km now so Tuning and chipping isn't really a option as we want the car to take us around Aus towing. Decided to get a EVC throttle controller and manta 3inch exhaust system. The Throttle controller takes the lag out of the throttle which turbo diesel engines are known for and the exhausts lets the car breathe better with more flow and less back pressure. The bigger exhaust also allows allows the turbo to spool earlier and also reduces EGT (exhaust gas temp) which can be an issue towing.

Great video … simple and honest. Bought a throttle controller for my 1KD powered manual Hilux. It’s fantastic. I leave it on U1 and the difference is sweet.

We have an idrive towing a 20' caravan and would definitely recommend it . If I had to replace muffler i would put a mantra on it to save money but not until then. Thanks for the video, get back on the road

Great review, I have the IDrive model on a Colorado and it has made a definitive difference to the throttle body set up, They are worth every cent. However, your reviews should include “Viewer discretion is advised” if your going to wear those things on your feet again mate,😂👍

Yeah mate done exactly what you did with my prado but used the torqit exhaust made in qld no chips/ turns , new injectors 167.000 k's runs like a dream , great vid's 👍 Neil .

Cheers luke! Mate, it’s been good! I can barely hear it with the muffler! It’s got a good note when your off-roading with the window down but prados are very well insulated through the firewalls so you can’t notice it over the muddies haha

Throttle booster’s are great, but a waste of time if you have an ECU tune Good bang for your buck👍

Totoally agree! That wasn’t an option for me though unfortunately! A tune company hit us up do get it done for free however opted out as it is a bit risky for the age of the car and what we do 👍

Hey Marko, Just the exhaust mate. Percy the Prado is a bit old to be tuning up as she’s done 220,000km. Exhaust makes a difference though

Cheers mate, Running 285, 70 ,17 on 17 inch 0 offset rims. Just a 2.5 inch bilstiens lift kit

Mate the only way to confirm power gain is a before and after Dyno.

Totally agree, Dyno is the only way to confirm the power increase with numbers. Obviously dynos are expensive and slightly out of our video budget haha 😂 the point of this was to be able to say if they make a difference or are you wasting your money.
