Last fall, I had to rip out and re-sew a binding FOUR TIMES. Since then, I found this video and my last few bindings have been gorgeous. You're a fabulous teacher, and fun to virtually sew with. Thank you!

In all the videos and books I've seen, nobody shows to sew the 45 degree angle on the corner. Genius!! I love your tutorial. I'm getting ready to try it.

I think everyone has a little bit of "push through to the finish line" mentality when it comes to binding. You got this! 😘😘

Hello! I hope this note finds you feeling better each day. 🥰 I'm enjoying watching all of your videos while you're recovering from surgery. I have a question regarding binding. Do you change your stitch length to a longer length for your binding? I find that using the normal stitch length is difficult and feels like it's "pushing" the binding. I just wondered if it's something I might be doing wrong. Thanks for your thoughts! Take care, Anna
@ISeeStarsQuilting2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! - I usually use the same stitch length I use for quilting which is about a 3.0. I never gave it too much thought actually... but it is worth experimenting with if you feel like it is pushing too much. Also try using your walking foot to sew on the binding. It will grip your thicker fabric a little more and pull it evenly through your needle feed 😘😘

Thanks for the great tutorial. I’m about to do my first binding. I have a question though. I was wondering why you didn’t sew the ends together at the very end on an angle like you did when you sewed all of the lengths together.
@ISeeStarsQuilting2 жыл бұрын
The reason is simple... I showed the easiest way that I've learned to sew the ends together. People understand the straight seam easier and then work up to the angled connection. 😘 good question

Brand new to quilting (garment making in past) ...in the past I have made blankets and used bias tape for binding or quilt tape....what are your thoughts on this? I LOVE this video as this way I have so much more freedom with this method on types/colors/prints of fabrics. Cannot thank you enough for all of the great information to those of us that are self learners!

Wow thanks for the explanation on the clips!! I had no idea that they are measuring tools! I have some but haven't used them yet. This was an excellent video tutorial. Can you find out what the name of the stitch in the ditch foot is please? Ty😊
@ISeeStarsQuilting3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! If you just google "stitch in the ditch foot" followed by your sewing machine brand, you should find exactly what you're looking for!

This was a great demonstration of something I struggle on every time. Also, do you use the same label for EVERY quilt you make, or do you have different ones (different wording)? TIA

Whats a nice size piece to practice on? Im a beginner binder. My first piece was a mess on a 10x10 square
@ISeeStarsQuilting3 жыл бұрын
I would try on a charm pack of 5" squares? They're precut so you know the cutting is accurate (which can change your sewing accuracy too) also, make sure your seams are all the same too that you're sewing. Even the tiny fractions of measurement can throw off the size of your finished block

My math stinks. Just to make sure i understand. For instance, if i had 19x19 plus 12 inches would that be 88 strips or 50 strips? Thank you for the answer and thanks for answering my last question. I plan on attending your courses as well😊

Oh no I didn’t know my backing was suppose to be larger than my top what to do. 😅
@ISeeStarsQuilting2 жыл бұрын
It helps to make your backing larger because you want a little wiggle room when you quilt! if you get a few small wrinkles you don't want to have to cut off part of your pretty top!
