For years, I couldn't make a good beef roast, and I love it. Finally, I learned to braise it, and it's super easy and fast to prep. I preheat my oven to 350. Then on the stove, I heat up my favorite enamel-coated cast iron pot. In a couple TBSP of oil, I brown the roast all over, then I add beef stock about 3/4 up the sides. Then I add salt, pepper, a sprinkle of garlic powder across the top, and a capful of Worcestershire sauce. Then I cover it and pop it in the oven for about 2 hours, or until it's falling apart. Then while the roast rests covered on the cutting board, I boil down the cooking liquid until the bubbles stack up, and I whisk in a slurry of lukewarm water and flour (make this slurry the consistency of melted ice cream) until the gravy thickens. It's soooo good, the beef and gravy with mashed potatoes!

Only becuz ur telling them that It’s a cultural norm, not a truth like, walk around the puddle so ur shoes stay clean Do u require ur family “dress for dinner”? Rich ppl consider that lazy & disrespectful to not do so. Simply becuz someone told them that. Turks burp loudly after a meal to show their appreciation and respect to the cook. Amazing to me that some people find it strange to see a family sit down for dinner other than special occasions. We did since I was born until my Dad's Parkinson's disease got bad enough to necessitate us staying in the living room with him. I love family meals when you talk about your day, what you learned at school or work, who you may have heard was sick, just anything and everything. I think families would be smart to start that with their young kids so it's an everyday way to talk, laugh, and stay connected. Good video!

It’s a pretty normal thing up here in Canada and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t do family dinner on a regular basis. In my house I have four teenagers who all either work after school or are in university so family dinners just aren’t feasible at the moment but when we can we do. That’s all that matters right ?❤

When my daughter was in high school we always had a table full of kids she invited to eat. Her friends would ask her if she had to sit at the table every night. She was so surprised, she said “if you eat a meal in our house you have to sit at the table, too.” We ate off China dishes, her friends ate off paper plates. Today she is grown and at her house we eat at a table with dishes. It brings the family together.

Your supper looked really good. When I make a roast, I use 1 envelope each of Italian dressing mix, brown gravy, and Ranch mix. Take all 3 and put in a 1 cup measuring cup and add water. Mix it real good and pour over roast. The ranch dressing mix is salty I think, so I sometimes don’t put quite the whole packet in. I can see in Katie’s face that it won’t be much longer for her. I love my Henckel knives. I've had mine more than 30 years. They take good edge and hold it. I put a real good edge on them about every other year and then just do touch-ups on them to keep them sharp in between. I'm sure Matt will keep yours in good shape. You can do that growing green onions from the root end trick with store-bought ones, too. It works about 80% of the time. I have a pot of green onions I grew that way. I didn’t harvest all of them and left some to flower and go to seed. Now the 3rd generation of those store-bought onions are about to bloom. I love that can buy them once and then harvest them twice more. Also, if I ever buy a bunch and aren't going to use them all right away, I stick the ones I don’t use in pot of dirt to stay fresh. It's much better than letting them turn to slime in the fridge, even though sometimes some of them get away from me and end up 2 feet tall. 😁

OH My Tipper what a delicious homemade meal especially the potatoes and cornbread. I use to fix my roast like that i always loved it. Sitting here at 5a.m. wanting a plate of your wonderful food i honestly just cant eat much anymore and so much my stomach can't handle but i still love seeing it remembering the good times cooking for the family my kids being home thinking it would always be that way. Tipper you are so blessed to have beautiful daughters that want to be around their parents they enjoy sitting down and eating and carrying on a conversation. God has sure blessed you and Matt plus blessed Corie with a wonderful husband that enjoys his in-laws not putting them down and don't want to be around them. Corie picked a man that has so much the same qualities of her daddy she learned how she should be treated by watching her loving parents. That is a valuable life lesson . I hope Granny is doing well i miss seeing her lovely face and hearing her sweet voice . I don't mean to pry i was wondering if granny every feels like coming up and eating supper with the family or you all just pack up everything and go down there and eat with her? I know life gets so busy with having to run here and there doing things for others and when you take her to Dr appointment or whatever that's spending time with her but from someone who is by myself but my little dogs that keep me sane 99% of the time I reply on others to help me get the mu many Dr appointments and to grocery store. I always feel guilty for taking them away from their chores their obligations their families its always in a rush it would be nice to just sit laugh and eat for a few minutes with them. Iknow I'm projecting and in know way implying you don't take the time anyone can see what a outstanding family you all are but sometimes life gets so hectic we might forget the older ones in the rush . Im sorry I always write a novel to you and don't mean to take your time away from your life I just feel like I know you all and i know that's silly. Lo, l'm sending you all blessings and love hope you have the time this weekend to slow down and rest and enjoy your wonderful family. 💖💚🙏🕊️🙏🕊️🙏🕊️🙏🕊️💖💛🌼

Supper looked great. I could just taste that cornbread in a glass of milk 😮. Not sure if you’ve ever made Mississippi Pot Roast-but it is wonderful….and it’s a crock pot cooking meal. Take a chuck roast-or your preference of cuts, put it in crock pot, take one pack dry ranch dressing mix and one pack au-jus gravy mix-put it on top, then cut up slices of butter and place around on top (1/3 cup) … place 4-5 pepperoncini peppers(whole) on top and slow cook for @8 hours. It falls apart, and the flavor is awesome. I’m sure you could use different peppers and it would be just as good. I typically double the ranch & au-jus, but I love the extra goodness. No liquid, etc. I know you like trying different things, so I thought I would mention it. It won’t be long until you’re going to need quick meals-grand baby and garden will be your life ❤

Tipper, my mom always did the Lipton Onion soup pot roast too. She added a can of cream of mushroom soup too and it makes a gravy. Give it a try sometime…..you will love it too!

“Better than Bullion”… cooking a pot roast with ‘taters, carrots & onions… fresh rosemary & thyme out of garden. I use granulated bullion mix. I always cook my dinner in the middays. I had to get up between 3 & 4 in the morning for over 30 years for work. Then nuke it when I was ready. Course I was a bachelor that whole time…,just me & my cat (of 24 years) Maxine ❤❤❤

I make that exact same cheesecakes recipe and I thought to myself "Tipper, you forgot to mention the sweetened condensed milk!" Bless your heart as Corie would say. ❤😊

Oh I use that recipe (close enough) with all fresh, even sliced onions. I especially like using the crock pot in the warm weather because it doesn't heat the kitchen up. Now I'm hungry hahaha!

I love the "REALNESS" of your videos. Thank you for sharing! And yes - I backed up in the video to see if I missed sugar of some sort. LOL

I always sear the meat and place it second in the pot with celery and onions on the bottom. I brown onions I place on top of meat with carrots.

Life is good when you have a full plate of food at supper time. Just looked so good. I love to crumble my cornbread and add the meat and juice on top. I'll be giving this a try come Saturday. Today we did crockpot bbq chicken and cornbread and mash potatoes. Morning sickness has left me survivin on that crockpot. Hahaha

I hope the sickness improves soon 😊

👋💙🙏💙👋Granny’s roast is very similar to one of my recipes. I also slice an onion or two in mine. Turns out so tender and very delicious. Have a great day dear friends. 👍💙🙏💙👋 Jennifer
