I believe you can make your quest connect to the sidequest app by connecting through wifi in the app, where the IP is the same as the quest itself. This allows you to change resolution and such straight from the app. At least that's what I did. So if you have to shut down your quest at all, when you launch it again go to the app and change resolution without plugging in. I haven't tested if you need to be on a wifi signal or if it works internally.

So I tried ages ago and it didn’t work then I tried again today and the logo went green then I accidentally pressed the off button once on my headset so only the screen turned off then the logo went red again and now I can’t get it green again. Then on the sidequest app it says the IP of both my headset and tablet but it doesn’t connect on wifi coz it says u need to allow inside headset. How do I fix both ?

Hi 👋🏻 I’ve tried doing this for a couple of weeks now and each time it’s not worked ! I’ve managed to get SideQuest on my headset and change my Home Screen but that’s all, I’ve not been able to get the loaded SideQuest to connect and go live also the app on my iPhone won’t let me open any games either ? Each time I go through the process for some reason I always end up with SideQuest on my computer screen but without ( the top control bar which should have the red or green symbol and the tools bar including the spanner to make changes to the game screen quality). All downloads and files loaded - transferred correctly but still I still have an incomplete Home Screen and non opening SideQuest ? Do you have any idea why I’m not able to get SideQuest to load / work ? Chris J

Followed all the steps easily until it came to connecting to my phone. The pop ups didnt appear. I tried reinserting the cable. Nope. Same thing. Then I restarted the quest while it was still connected to my phone. Pop ups appeared and it was easy to complete. Thanks for helping me get Sidequest apps on the headset :)

I love all your work and am happy to be a subscriber. Just some feedback here. Why is this original dated video still up? Why isn't it's title labeled as no longer applying? I saw this old video and did the install which was different. Okay. It happens. But then my screens looked very different than what you show in this video. I then spent hours on Sidequest and Reddit forums trying to figure out what I did wrong. Sidequest finally pointed out the problem. So in this case, NOT seeing your video would have saved me hours of unnecessary effort. So it goes. Just thought you might want to be aware of what happens without more clear labeling of a dated video. A "pinned comment" may not be "clear and immediately seen" video labeling. Otherwise, keep up the great work. I look forward to your future videos.

I have been struggling for a couple hours now to get any sideloading things to work, it seems no matter what I do it's just not working. My quest 2 won't bring up the prompt for USB debugging or allowing downloads from unknown sources, nothing is working and I don't know what to do at this rate

This is likely because of your cable, what usb cable are you using? It’s important to have a high quality cable that supports data transfer. And are you sure you enabled dev mode?

Check whether your phone has support for USB OTG. It sounds like your phone might not allow doing it. If it does, try multiple cables to see if it works. If not, you might need to try a PC or a newer phone

Cas, have you found a way so that SideQuest can auto connect to a Quest 2? What I mean is that every time I start a new session, I have to connect the link cable before I can establish a Wifi connection. This a pain because I have a Anki charging dock and there is a magnetic pin insert in the charging port. This means each session I have to pry out the insert, insert the link cable, establish the wifi connections, put pin back in. With a classroom of 22 Quest 2s, this is going to be impractical.
