there will be no damage to any earing mate, with the rubber hammer, all that was damged was the rubber hammer the steel hammer put the shock straight thru the rotor onto the end of crank,

Jammy! A convenient screwdriver hole, and an easy pressure bolt access. My Yam is as smooth as a baby's bum, and no internal screw thread, just the locking nut external thread. Crisis! I may have to lash out on an extractor! Thanks for the vid, though, it shows its not rocket science, just upgrade the hammer!

All I needed to do was lightly bang on the rotor with a hammer then pull it off. No bolt or anything. Happy I don't need to buy a rotor puller now. Thanks.

The bolt comes with thumb and finger like every other loose bolt mate👍

mate, the first 10 mm bolt screws through the rotor into the end of the crank pulling the rotor onto the taper and locking it, the 2nd larger bolt screws into the rotor itself with the end of the bolt sitting on the end of the crank and with doing it up tight and jarring with a quick tap, pulls the rotor off the end of the crank, so the first bolt can't be hit in a way as to loosen the rotor trust this helps,, Geoff

I am having hard time taking my jugs off my xs650 motor, seems to be glued on. I tried rubber mallet. Do you have any suggestions?
@Steptoexs116 жыл бұрын
Denis , over time they have glued themselves on, you've got to break the cooked paper gasket, google remove stubborn barrels, see if that helps, You could try roping around the barrels, taking the wieght of the motor and using a timber block on you stud nuts, try belting the motor out from under the barrels

why do you need another bolt to hammer on it instead of doing it on the one you removed first, the one that holds the rotor? it cant be smacked?
@rickee26526 жыл бұрын
The original Bolt is a smaller diameter that threads into the end of the crank. The big bolt he's using threads into the rotor itself so as you tighten it its actually pushing on the end of the crank. The shock of the hammer blow is to weaken the friction between the slightly conical mating surfaces between the crank and the rotor, whereupon the pressure of that big bolt can will spring the rotor off.

hammer might dammage on bearing.

TBH the blows with the rubber mallet are more likely to do damage than the metal hammer. The purpose of the hammer blows is to 'Shock' the friction between the two parts so a smart blow, not necessarily a harder blow, is usually more effective with a metal hammer.
