-Many other channels such as EposVox and HarrisHeller aka Alpha Gaming have covered more in depth single and two pc audio setups/management. Creatively using OBS, line-in, analog xlr interfaces, digital xlr interfaces including many USB audio interfaces, and even luxury items such as the TC Helicon Gaming GoXLR and GoXLR mini. There are many ways to handle streaming audio management and setup but something not many people talk about was something introduced in the Windows 10 April 2018 update that revamped the built in/integrated windows audio mixer and sound controls. What this did was give you the ability to have any running/open application or program be routed to any installed audio device output in your computer! You can send all audio from google Chrome to speakers, for example, or all OBS Studio alerts audio to monitor speakers, a tv, a different headset, or ANYTHING the computer is capable of outputting audio too. You can micromanage which audio gets sent where, all in windows! So in this video, i show you how to access the advanced audio mixer settings and play with the settings a little bit to show you all. Tutorial time! No voicemeeter or voicemeeter banana required!

Thanks for another great, easy to follow tutorial! It should be noted that updating Windows might not fix the issue of a device not appearing in Sound Settings. If you're having this issue, continue reading for a possible solution. You'll only be able to see devices that have been enabled in the Sound Control Panel. This panel (which is separate from the Sound Settings window discussed in the great explainer video you're watching) can be found by *Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound* You'll see a window pop up with four tabs labeled *Playback, Recording, Sounds, Communications.* Make sure your desired device is listed in the Playback tab. If you see it, but it is disabled, *right click it and select enable.* You can also control additional things in the device properties menu by right clicking the device and selecting properties. If you're ever having trouble getting a device to be recognized properly, this is a good place to look. This is also a good place to check if you're having quality issues on things like your microphone. I've run into an issue where Windows will reset the recording quality on my Corsair mic to telephone, which makes it sound like, well, an old landline phone. I fix it by *Right Click device > Properties > Advanced > then change the quality on the drop down menu.* Since it's such a pain in the ass to find now, you can set a shortcut for it on your desktop so you can access it with one click. *Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > right click Sound > Create Shortcut.* Idk why they made it such a chore to access this panel or why it's a separate thing from Sound Settings, but they did, so... Thanks Windows..?

@@CoalitionGaming same. I have run into so many people who couldn't figure out why Windows wasn't detecting their mic or headphones only to find that was the issue. I heard that they're trying to merge everything and that maybe the average used might not need to access that control panel often, but it still shouldn't be so hard to find.

Thank you for making this video. I use to use Audio Router program to duplicate audio sources and get them to where I wanted them but this is so much easier and I was unaware i could even do this straight through Windows 10. Now when I want to hear music through headset but not through my stream audio (default device) i can just set my music application to output to headset and my game to default device speakers and route it to headset if need be. Getting audio to go where I want to hear it can be confusing but this makes it a lot easier.

I have made multiple attempts to try to get virtual cables voice meter banana, I'm a musician and trying to do a lot of different things. at the end of the day it dawned on me that even if I get voice meter banana figured out I'm subject to the fickleness of doing all this through any kind of software, and let's face it it breaks. there's a reason voice meter banana has the audio reset feature and I don't want to have to deal with that. I have two external decks and old M-Audio c400 and a newer focusrite generation 3 2i2. I also have an external '90s era 1202 Mackie mixer with phantom power, and an even older crate mixer that's got many more channels, as well as a midi verb 3 effects processor and other various things... am I better off trying to solve my problems externally and having the final mix and routing things dealt with before it even gets to the computer? if I have the means?
@CoalitionGaming
@CoalitionGaming Жыл бұрын
Hard to say. If you are happy with the amount of control you have externally with the final mix coming to the PC, then yes do that. If you want more control via the computer, maybe something other than voicemeeter will help. I wonder if getting an elgato wave device or stream deck+ so you have access to the Wave Link software, maybe you can do what you need with that software. Other software that might be able to replicate that functionality is Steelseries Sonar (free), and the Beacn Mix software you get access to if you use a Beacn Mic or Beacn Mix Create device.

I'm confused about the "default" setting. Where does sound go if you choose "default"? Can "default" be changed to be a different default? Some applications' let you choose a stream destination within the application. So for example if I tell a wave recording app to get it's microphone input from my web browser but I tell Windows to send the web browser audio to head phone which one wins? Now add voicemeeter to the equation. I'm totally confused. if I tell windows I want voicemeeter bannana to use "default" for in and out what have I done?

Thats a little harder to accomplish. If you utilize your front and rear audio jacks, you can go into the realtek sound manager software (or your motherboard's onboard audio software) and configure it there to send the same audio stream to both jacks. Outside of that, i'm not too sure. There has been software i've seen that can duplicate audio to selected sources but i don't remember the name.

@@CoalitionGaming Thank you for replying! Iv been looking around a lot and not finding much. I do not have audio jacks on my monitors but worst case scenario I can figure something out using your information if my monitors have usb input or something similar. Now as far as the other program its called Audio router but its been dead since 2016, I attempted to use it but run into errors that most likely have to do with compatibility with windows, When I get the chance Ill look through the Github and see if anyones made their own program based off of it thats working but I doubt that. If you ever want to make a future video or look into this more, there is a solution someone posted on I believe stack overflow or whatever its called using VB audio program. I have yet to try that solution but will soon it just seems too tedious for the time I have currently.

I avoid VB audio stuff like the plague. People have alot of mixed results using their products. The VB Virtual Audio Cable is fine, but if you have to use Voicemeeter Banana or Potato, then id pass on that.
