I am always looking for exciting new flavors for hummus and this is one of them. The sun-dried tomatoes and basil give this hummus a major punch of flavor. It is great as a veggie dip, as a spread for sandwiches or as a topping for baked potatoes.

Haha that slow-mo Mmmmm after taste testing was awesome, made my 4yr old son and myself laugh so hard. He loves watching you, he asks to watch your cooking show more than any other I'm subscribed to. I don't make many comments online, but I had to say something I couldn't believe no one mentioned the slow-mo appreciation of how good it tastes. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your recipes and videos. Wish you and your loved ones well!

This hummus is soooo good, but I think I forgot the raisins! Oh well! Guess I'll have to make some more! Sigh!!! No, I'm not sighing!!! Seriously though! The best I've ever tasted! Thanks Jill!

Can't wait to make it. My favourite recipe is a basic hummous with a bit of concentrated apple juice to sweeten, and a good dollop of horseradish purée.

Mmmm I love basil but I've never thought of adding it to my hummus. BTW if you invest the extra time to soak and cook your own dried chickpeas, rather than using canned, that's another way to control the salt content. If you cook your chickpeas with garlic and spices; those flavors will make your hummus even more tasty than when you use the canned plain chickpeas.

Really great tasting Tomato Basil Hummus recipe (with the *fresh* basil). Don't skimp on the the blending time. I've made my own hummus for years using dried chickpeas (soaked overnight) cooked in an Instant Pot (5 min on "Manual" with 15 min cool down before opening). The fresh cooked chickpeas taste better (use the Aquafaba in the hummus) AND SO CHEAP... about $1.25/pound dry...make lots of chickpeas...and a LOT of hummus.

when i eliminted salt, i started getting dizzy spells. like the feeling you get when you sit up too fast? but it was randomly happening. i found out i had low blood pressure from not using salt. so now i have to supplement with salt to stabilize my blood pressure.

I'd be interested in tasting your saltless hummus, but could never give up salt. I workout and sweat a lot and have to replenish electrolytes often with sea salts of various kinds.

Hi Jill! Great channel! Quick question, how come you don't use any oil? I live in the middle east and it is known here that olive oil has many medicinal properties. Obviously there are many oils that are bad for our health but i for example only buy pure cold pressed local olive oil. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks!!

Hi Sarah Kirshner - all of the leading plant based doctors and researchers agree at this point that all extracted oils including olive oil are not health foods. Dr Klaper, Dr Gregor, Dr Esseltyn, Dr Goldhamer, Dr Fuhrman, Dr Campbell, etc all are teaching the real health benefits are in the whole food like eating the actual olive. The extracted oils cause various forms of problems including adding large amounts of empty calories. Check out a search on these names and olive oil as they all have videos and articles to reference and learn more. We find the latest plant based research challenges many long held cultural beliefs about all kinds of foods.

I dislike the taste of chickpeas, and I have tried about 3 different recipes and cannot do it. I am going to give the chickpeas one more try using your recipe. I am only giving it another try for 2 reasons....1 they are suppose to be soooo good for you and 2...was your face after tasting it. I will let you know what happens.

wow, only 1 lemon? i use like 6 with 2 cans. you forgot, cayenne, garlic, onion, cilantro. adding sun dried to my batch tonight, thanks for this.
